Re: Weird Starting Issue
Happened again this morning. I tried the spare key, but to no effect. I think I have narrowed it down to 2 separate problems, but obviously not sure if these alone are causing these symptoms. Air is definitely getting into the fuel - there were largish air pockets in the fuel line, which I tried to ...

Re: Weird Starting Issue
Thanks for that - I was thinking of trying that when it happened yesterday again (worse than ever before), but didn't get the chance. Will try it, but I don't think it's the card - seems more like an electrical problem. There's a faint buzzing noise from the engine compartment during which the butto...

Re: Reversing lights dont work
Have you checked both bulbs? If you have, then it could be the fuse or the switch, or if all else fails, then the wiring. The fuse shouldn't be too difficult to get too. It's fuse 5C which you should be able to access by removing the fuse cover only - I've changed the sidelight fuses which are a bit...

Weird Starting Issue
Hopefully, this will be one of those 'one-off' things, but I thought I'd gather some thoughts on here anyway. Started my car early this afternoon (outside temperature 13c) after it was last used yesterday evening, and the car fired up as normal - so far so good. However, in the time it took me to gr...

Re: Oil change
Not sure if the filter is in the same place on all the engines or not (not done mine myself), but I did my mate's 1.6 and the filter was easy to get to from the top - does leave a bit of a mess though IIRC so plenty of rags (not that its too awkward to clear up anyway as access is ok)..

Re: heaters
Seems like an airlock. Or a faulty thermostat, but I'd top-up and bleed the coolant first.

Re: Rattle and whine
No whine, but I think I have a slight metallic rattle too. Mine also happens in neutral, but only when I let the car roll on its own (say, for example when stuck in traffic) at 5mph or so. I'm thinking maybe its the top mount as there is a bit of vibration too.

Re: How hard to swap rear hubs?
The ABS ring are built into the rear discs, so can you not simply swap them over?

Re: Halfway through servicing
Is the fault code DF470 or P0470?
Also, not sure about the rest, but for the ABS, its possible that the sensor has been pulled out from the hub - if it has, it will just plug back in and the light will go out as soon as you drive off....

Re: Heavy/Stiff Clutch Pedal
My new clutch (less than 11 months old / 6,000 miles - all associated parts replaced) is heavier than my brother's Passat 2.0TDi (which also had a new clutch about the same time). It's also heavier than my friend's new Corsa. I guess you can only really compare like for like though for an accurate c...

Re: kubera alloys.
I think some Vauxhalls share the same key - if not, a long nose plier will do the trick (if I'm thinking of the right alloys / key)
