Re: remapped 1.9 dci
the megane has a tall gearing also. so it is more for fast cruising than for straight acceleration, not that it does it bad :D but just saying it has a taller gearing than most 1.9 turbo diesels. but i really hope for you that you have a 160ish horse power and not the power you reported. (for your g...

Re: remapped 1.9 dci
170bhp for a 1.9 dci stock turbine is well over the max it should have.
160 is max safe power with stock turbo.
this all is a little strange for me that you have a 170bhp map on it

Re: remapped 1.9 dci
the cable kits of ebay work fine on friends car. regarding the map vs "box" is useless to compare, in best case a box that costs more than 3oo€ alters 3 parameters (fuel pressure, MAP and MAF) while when mapping you alter 20 different maps and then some more. the cheap *100€ and sub, and s...

Re: remapped 1.9 dci
on twisty roads, if you know how to push it the 1.9 dci will be surprisingly fast and up to more powerful cars

Re: remapped 1.9 dci
that is right on the edge that turbo can support without failure. be sure to change oil and filter at 7ooomiles at least.
regarding the decat. go for it you wont regret it, but dont expect more power (noticable)
however you will hear the turbine a tad sooner, ie it will spool faster

Re: Turbo leaking oil
inspect the turbo it self. and that for sure is not a 38ooo mile symptom, or it has been trashed like a hell.

Re: EU Referendom
as an outsider, I would also say you are more in a loos than in win situation if you stay in EU. there are some benefits of EU if you are in busines that has global market, and there are EU founding, but all other is just making the german bank system wallet thicker. Greek for example, has paid back...

Re: Megane 1.5 VS 1.9 MPG?
ITS not TDI, it is DCI
1.5 is 4 to 5 L/100km while the 1.9 is 4.5 to 7 L/100km
the 1.9 does not like city driving but the extra power is whell worth it
