Re: hi new to site
Welcome to the club. Have a look in the 'Ownership problems' section for a stickie about fuel consumption. There are several pages covering all different models so there are bound to be some figures for the 2.0ltr engine in there somewhere.

Re: Hello Newbie Alert !
Welcome to the club. Check for a full service history, make sure all electric windows work, check for water ingress in door pockets, in under floor compartments and the carpet in the footwells. Make sure that you get two key cards and that both work. Test drive and listen/feel for suspension knocks ...

Re: Security sytem tones?
The sensors come as a pair (transmitter and receiver) and cost just over £20. The alarm control box is in the boot behind the left-hand side carpet. You will need to remove the left-hand parcel shelf bracket and boot light to gain access. In the meantime, disable the sensors by switching off the eng...

Re: Noisy Tappets ??
A few 1.4 engines rattle at 3,100 to 3,000rpm when slowing down. Don't expect Renault to do anything about it as I tried on 3 successive services and was told that it was within acceptable levels for that engine.

Re: HELP LOSS OF POWER STEERING
I can't help with the steering but if you still have the service/warranty booklet (the one they stamp after a service) you may find the radio code on a sticker on the inside front cover.

Re: Volumetric sensors
If you break a sensor, the replacement comes as a set of two; one transmitter and one receiver and costs just over £20. The control box is located behind the carpet on the left-hand side in the boot (at least for the hatchback). The wires are annotated 'T' and 'R' so it's easy enough to find out whi...

Volumetric sensors
I managed to break the left hand volumetric sensor whilst taking the parcel shelf out. Has anyone ever had to replace one of these and if so, how difficult is it?

Re: Stickies for fuel consumption
How do I reset the MPG reading so that I can start from scratch when I next fill the car up with fuel
You can also cycle through the readouts on the stalk and press the reset button on your speedo when you get to the gallons used or miles travelled.

Re: Strange noise as the revs fall back through 3000rpm & start
My 1.4 has a tappet rattle that is at it's loudest when decelerating from 3,100 to 3,000rpm. You also notice it when you change gear. I took a Renault tech out for a spin but although he acknowledged that there was a noise, he wouldn't touch it until the performance was affected.

Welcome to the club. Before you buy, make sure that you get both key cards and that they both work. Check that all the electric windows work and check the door pockets and footwells for water leaking in. Check that it has a full service history because you will be towards the end of the warranty. Ap...

Re: Megane 2004 fuel economy poor
On a long run my 1.4 returns just over 40mpg. Town driving with an average speed of around 19mph gives around 33mpg.

Use a tyre calculator such as this:

There is a thread somewhere on this site with pictures of members cars. I'm sure I've seen 18" wheels on some photos.
