Re: Silly Hand Brake!

Outstanding! thanks for that Dave, give me an idea of where I am going with this! But yes good car in planning but awful in reality, two rear window regs gone, why? the plastic wheel which the cables wind onto inside the motor is to soft and slightly to small, so the cable move out of the tracks mak...

Silly Hand Brake!

Any one having trouble with this silly hand brake idea that Renault have used, it all started about a month back when the hand brake would not release in a traffic que of course, so I drove it to the side of the road dragging its rear wheels then like magic press the button and it worked? typical, n...

Re: Condensation

Is the car wet inside (very) I had a Fiat with a leaking sunroof which wasn't to bad at 1st but it wasn't long before it really started to soak the inside of the car as in really wet carpets which in turn made the screen at first then all the windows wet inside it took ages for the heater to clear t...

Re: Replacing horn and gear stick insert

Use a small flathead screwdriver to pry out the old gear knob insert and replace with a new one. Aaaa so you can get them off, but are they easy, the guy selling the discs that I saw was telling you to glue them over the top of the old one because the old one is so well stuck you end up damaging th...

Re: Replacing horn and gear stick insert

I have read somewhere the horn can be accessed from the front grill, you need a flat blade screwdriver and a cloth to protect the bumper paint from damage apparantly you can prise out the grill and get in at the horn, bit tight but doable so they say, need to do mine actually, as it is so pathetic n...

Re: Wind Deflectors

yes I get the "breeze up the lower back" as well so I think a deflector may be a good purchase, I also get a bit of back seat seatbelt slap as well only every now and then so I wonder if it is something to do with which way the wind is blowing.

Re: rear quater window regulator issues

Well they are coming down in price, I was quoted £300 inc VAT about 3 months ago, good price if you have £200 to spare. I think the motor was £25 on ebay used of course, Renault never advocate a repair of a regulator, especially at £200 + for a new one yet you can get front window cable for £20, car...

Re: rear quater window regulator issues

Well done! quite in depth but also quite easy would you not say. At a guess the motor should be ok, they are actually quite robust, your problem seems to be the STUPID plastic cable guide inside the motor, which from what I can see is knackerd, you apeer to be at the same point I am. Personally ther...

Re: Driven any other convertables

I supose it depends what you call rivals? the Pug 307 looks better from the front, not from the rear, Eos is well a bit of a non statment really as it doesn't really stand out and the Astra is very good looking [not a Vauxhall fan but!]it is a good looking car not sure what else you would put agains...

Re: rear quater window regulator issues

********************************************************************************************************************* Just re-read the above and there is a mistake, you need to take the base out 1st, otherwise you will not be able to remove the backrest because of the rear seat belts, once the base ...

Re: Leaking roof ?

Sounds like a good point to me, that glass roof is a very hefty item, you can feel how differant the car handles with that glass lump stowed in the boot, I have heard of a few people with problems with leaks with the car facing up a slopem ine faces down a slope but leans to the left, so the passeng...

Yep I think you are right, my rears squeal, usually when moving slowly parking or Traffic lights etc you know when there are loads of people around to look at you and go OOooooo what a racket! mine sound even worse going backwards, they make this awful humming vibration sound sometimes, it's embaras...
