Re: Renault megane leaking water at bottom of door it looks like water coming over door seal

Have you checked the drain holes which run along the bottom of the door? Make sure these are all clear. Could take the door card off to make sure there isn't a build of dirt at the bottom of the door interior preventing water getting out.

Re: REPLACING FRONT WISHBONE BUT WHAT SIZE IS THAT TORX BOLT?

I changed the lower wishbone on my 1.9 and don't believe I needed a torx head drive. Could be different but I was able to use a normal spanner - 10 or 12 mm I think, despite it have a torx head. May have actually been the bolt next to it.

Re: EGR Valve

What is the actual error code? Mine has had a couple of EGR faults in the last 3 years. Both reported P0487, open circuit. First time just needed clean up of valve AND associated pipework, all was gunged up. Ok for 3 years. This time cleaning and changing the valve for my spare didn't resolve. Code ...

Re: Change EGR but exhaust leaks from click conector

Could you get a large jubilee clip around the pipe before connecting it, then tighten after?

Re: Steering "Twang"

Sounds like a spring snapped or top mount bearings worn. Either way it's a spring out job. One front spring snapped two weeks ago. Cost £100 to be replaced by a garage, would have been £155 for both top mount and spring but top mount renewed 3 years ago so ok. Would have done myself but no time. If ...

Re: Insurance question/problem

Do you trust this neighbour? Did they, for example, voluntarily tell you they had hit your car before you asked? Did they deny it until you revealed the CCTV evidence? If you don't trust them 100% go via insurers (if it's not too late) or ask for money upfront (say £500) with agreement to adjust eit...

Re: Code Readers

I use a basic ELM327 Bluetooth connector (£5 ish )with the Torque Pro app (£3 when I bought it) - very useful to view and clear codes, see additional data (instant MPG, turbo boost etc). The Renault OhNo! app provides more facilities apparently but make sure you buy a ELM 327 v1.4 or v1.5 adaptor. H

Re: Front Suspension top (pivot) arm

I agree with last post - you seem to be talking about the pivot carrier, in which case I wouldn't worry. Mine is corroded on the surface but fine and not even mentioned at MOT time. I suspect you can't find a replacement as no one ever changes it. Lower wishbone, front springs, track rod ends and ax...

Re: megane clutch

If it was the slave cylinder I think you would see the pedal hit the floor and not come back. Also likely to see fluid leak from gearbox.

Re: windscreen wipers dont work

A bit late picking this one up... Had same on my old Primera. Tried to use wipers when frozen and joint popped out (ball and socket). Removed scuttle panel and reattached, worked for a bit but the plastic socket had split a little and eventually popped out again. New bar with socket at both ends was...

P0487 Error on 1.9DCI 2004

All, Had this code for a while now. Car perfectly driveable but car won't pass MOT with shiny orange emission light on ;-( Had same error 3 years ago, cleaning EGR and pipework resolved but not this time. Tried my spare sparkling clean EGR valve and still no joy. It could be both valves are faulty b...

Re: Intermittent Lumpiness !!

Alas I have cleaned breathers too and even changed the PCV valve with associated pipework (£72 for a simple valve and bit of rubber pipe!!!). To be fair it's running a little more consistently unlumpy at the moment following an oil change on the weekend.

Re: Intermittent Lumpiness !!

I've done oil, oil filter and fuel filter and it does help as you say. I now have two EGR valves (bought a spare so car not out of action whilst I leave one soaking overnight). Takes a little patience to get valve out the first time. I took out bolts and used piece of wood and hammer to move back an...

Re: Intermittent Lumpiness !!

It sounds similar to the problem I have with my 1.9dci 2004 and have had for the 3 years I've owned it! Mainly happens after a long motorway run then slow traffic. I've put it down to the EGR valve not fully closing and having swopped the valve once, cleaned it and pipework etc basically given up an...

Otherwise known as Axial rod end. Got one for my 1.9dci from Eurocarparts at £12.
