Re: 1.9 dCi oil in EGR valve?!
Just had a look at the offical EGR cleaning instructions (Technical Note 3916A) and they state that: After cleaning the EGR solenoid valve, follow the programming procedure carried out after EGR solenoid valve replacement. These are given in Technical Note 3876A as: After replacing the EGR valve, re...

Re: 1.9 dCi oil in EGR valve?!
My 1.9dci (also 2004) had a new turbo 6000 miles ago after it failed on the previous owner. Last week using my cheap OBDii reader I got a 487 - EGR "circuit open message on the EGR Vavle" and the 'Toxic Fumes' light came on for a short time before going off (never to return). Took out the ...

EGR Blanking plate (Megane 1.9 dci 120 2004)
Anyone tried EGR blanking plate on a Megane?? Looking to replace the EGR valve so had a look on Ebay and found EGR Blanking plates for sale. A bit of googling shows this is popular with Alpha Romeo owners - apparently increases mpg and power with only downside being potential flat spots and warning ...

Re: ODB reader set Service Light on? 2004 1.9 dci
Torque Pro showed the error code - EGR Valve open circuit. Took the valve out without too much problem. A bit tight at first but used a plumbing pump spanner to turn it 10% and was then able to use tap it out using a hammer and long screwdriver from the right hand side, hitting the solenoid body whe...

Re: ODB reader set Service Light on? 2004 1.9 dci
Thanks Alex, Gonna give it a go now (day off today!). Made a start last night and had a bit of trouble getting the big jubilee clips undone - bottom one is just at teh wrong angle to easily get a screwdriver on it but got there in the end after taking the battery cover off. Realised I could add lots...

Re: ODB reader set Service Light on? 2004 1.9 dci
It's 2004 pre FAP I think, which I see as a good thing - one less thing to go wrong! It does let out a puff of black smoke when first started or floored in low gear which does suggest the EGR apparently. I have booked it in with a independant specialist for diagnostics tomorrow but will try the EGR ...

ODB reader set Service Light on? 2004 1.9 dci
Drove home 40 miles commute no problems, car running fine. Plugged in my new Blue tooth OBD reader (courtesy of Amazon) and started car and paired the device my phone) using Torque software, which didn't do much except show my turbo boost. Switched off the car and now the "Service" and &qu...

Re: Problem Undertray bolts on 1.9dci Dynamique
Took the car to a local (trusted) garage in the end. They managed to remove the bolts affected by captive nuts breaking off and replace these with self tappers. Not perfect but at least they could then change the oil via the sump plug and the undertray is secure. Also bought a couple of sets of trim...

Re: Problem Undertray bolts on 1.9dci Dynamique
You are quite right - had a look last night and there are trim fasteners missing and bits overlapping when they shouldn't. I'm sure a 5 year could get it right with a bit pf patience! Love the look and drive of the Megane but it makes my last car (Nissan Primera) seem a joy to work on (apart from th...

Re: Problem Undertray bolts on 1.9dci Dynamique
Thanks Alex, A mate suggested using a pump to suck the oil out through the dipstick hole but I was worried this would leave sludge in the bottom of the engine. Besides at at some point I'll still have to get the tray off so it looks like the bolts will have to be drilled out and somehow replaced whi...

Re: Hi - have i bought a nail?
Hi there, Recently bought a 1.9 diesel and just getting used to the difference too! You wouldn't notice the turbo when idling as wouldn't be running at idling speed. Not sure when it does start but I can't feel the effect on my car until 2000 rpm and there is a noticeable increase in acceleration. I...

Anyone tried BG244 Diesel Fuel System Cleaner
Seen some good reviews of this - considering it for my 2004 1.9dci.
Anyone tried it or have a better alternative? This car is new to me so I'd like to clean the fuel system a clear out. Does Renault suggest NOT using such cleaners (as some manufacturers do)?

Problem Undertray bolts on 1.9dci Dynamique
Bought the parts to service my new 2004 Megane and was stumped at the first hurdle! There are 4 bolts holding the engine undertray on and 3 I can't get off - they just turn and turn so looks likes the mounts have broken away inside and I've no way of getting to them with pliers or anything. Only opt...

Re: Which Haynes manual for 2004 1.9 dci
Got the latest one in the end - for 2052 - 2008. Haynes manuals defintely not as good as they used to be. The one for my Sierra was much more detailed and had comprehensive fault finding - this one is ok but lacks detail. Still it does cover removing the door card and engine mounts which I need to l...

Which Haynes manual for 2004 1.9 dci
Anyone know which Haynes manual is best for a 2004 1.9dci Dynamique? There is a 2002 - 2005 version and a 2002 - 2008 version and I wasn't sure which (if either) is best for the common faults. Both should be ok for normal servicing, changing brake pads etc which I plan to do myself. Just bought it f...
