Re: Clutch pedal sensor

Yes, the wires are short - design fault. They break because of it. A good idea is to extend them a bit.

Re: Gearbox oil

The oils are listed in the Parts section of the forum. They are thinner than for many other cars. The oil is added to the box though the filling hole until it starts flowing out from the same hole. I usually trace a pvc tube there from the space under the bonnet, choose the largest diameter to make ...

Re: The mother of Window Faults

The motor was making a clicking noise because one of power pins in the connector to the regulator was corroded and burnt. As I understand, it attempts to operate, but then looses the contact as the pin overheats. It can be also the connector between the door and A-pillar. The clicking stopped probab...

Re: Here's a good one..

The engine started itself?!! At least the car didn't steal itself while speeding through a dozen of cameras... These two incidents involve different computers, both connected to the same UPC and battery. If there are no warning lights on the dash, then you have found a dangerous design fault, yet an...

Re: Dephaser pulley diagram

If you can get it from the breakers cheap, then go for it. Otherwise, just change the pulley and see...
Change the oil/filter, BTW. If suspecting oil failure, then run on an ester-based oil for a season; it will make the internals of the engine shining clean.

Re: Dephaser pulley diagram

I think, all versions must be compatible, some are just better designed internally than the others. There is also a dephaser control solenoid valve, which is essential for the dephaser operation. It makes sense to check/replace it as well.

Re: Weird tyre wear issue..

The track rod ends are easy to adjust DIY if you want just straighten the steering wheel. My concern, however, is that both front and rear tyres on one side are wearing out... It can be a result of an impact on one side. If this is the case, then it is a garage work.

Re: Stop light problem?

Hi Smockboy25, Reading carefully your post... The oil-stop light, "change oil soon" message, you did not check/change the oil before posting this question - these translate as running the car into the ground while being unfamiliar with the basics of servicing. Lubrication failure faults us...

Re: Weird tyre wear issue..

It's difficult to think of a fault that affects the front and rear in the same way, unless you're doing a lot of left turns... Is the steering wheel straight when driving straight? Is the car stable under strong side winds?

Re: Rushing liquid sound behind dashboard

If the drains in the bulkhead are blocked, it can be the sound of water going into the ventilation and further under there carpets. Check the cubby holes in the floor! Don't run the fan meanwhile. If it is the case, then you'll have to replace the pollen filter before running the fan again. The bulk...

It's not an argument, but rather a repeated statement of the original problem. Why do you think that this prediction is true?

Re: megane privilage 1.6 not starting

Check the big fuse at the battery terminal and it's bolts for corrosion. The next guess is the starter. A bad starter often engages after being hit with a hammer.

Re: oil on outside of air filter to turbo pipe

The oil can be getting there through the crankcase ventilation pipe, or there is a hole in the boost air duct blowing oily mist onto the part in question, or it's dripping from above. The duct from the filter is under negative pressure, which should prevent oil from getting on its outside surface. I...
