Re: 1.5dci megane trouble starting when cold and white smoke
Im no expert but isn't white smoke when starting a sign of oil and or coolant getting where it shouldn't be. What are your levels like. are you regularly topping up the oil and or coolant. My guess is as already mentioned about valve seals, get them replaced. As far as I know, and im no expert but w...

Re: Rear discs / bearings
I just replaced my rear discs. The bearings came already fitted in the discs. relatively easy job just make sure you have a tool to wind the caliper piston back in. You should also fit new pads at the same time. they are cheap and as you will have it all off you had might aswell.

Re: renault megane dci 1.5
I would say that whatever you saw to get rid of it on the megane 1.6 should do the job on your 1.5dci. I also have this car, same year aswell. Is the spanner symbol to do with having a service because if it is I think its a case of holding in the button on the end of the stalk. Should be on youtube.

Re: Indicator flashing fast
I had a crazy rear indicator, inside and out it would be ticking and flashing double time. For me it turned out to be the bulb holder which in the rear light cluster there are two I think. I just bought a second hand cluster with bulbs and holders included and swapped them over. £15. No problems sin...

Re: Brake pedle problem
You say it did the same with the old discs and pads. So perhaps its not the discs and pads. I was getting a funny noise and slight vibration that I initially thought was the wheel bearing (and replaced) then thought was warped discs (and replaced) and finally replaced the lower arm as the ball joint...

Re: Megane mk2 knocking noise
Oh my God, what was the result. I have a similar noise after doing the lower arm and now I have clunking noises from the front that seem to come from all over. I have tightened everything to correct torque, drop links, track rods, caliper bracket bolts, strut pinch bolt, top mount bolts. I have a ve...

Re: Air in fuel lines
I would definitely say so. I have air in my fuel lines but not as bad as you. I have to leave my car overnight for it to have trouble starting but it always starts. I would suggest you firstly fit a quality filter, I did and it did help a little. My car would hunt for fuel and you could feel the vib...

Oil Leak
I have a oil leak well 2 really, one i can handle but the other is bugging me. Its coming from the drivers side of the engine somewhere between the plastic cover for the timing belt and the upper part of the engine. It is strange because it seems to be a mix of grease and oil and I actually thought ...

Re: front ride height
That first pic is exactly what my car looks like regarding front ride height. I haven't got round to sorting the problem as ive been busy with other problems but why oh why does this occur when the springs are generic for most meganes.
PS, I like it lowered, it looks very cool indeed.

air in fuel
I have many problems with my car but one problem I thought would be a easy fix is the air in my fuel.
Im struggling to get rid of it, I think I make it worse when ever I try.
Has anyone had this and got it sorted, if so how.
Its a 1.5dci 2004 Megane

Re: front ride height
Well I still have my old front strut assembley in the shed so I think I will take the springs off and swap them for the ones currently on the car and see if that makes any difference. Best get the Haynes manual out and see how its done

That does not look good, I don't know but maybe if you disconnect the battery for a little bit then reconnect it and see what happens.

Re: passenger front window
I have found that water getting into the car door causes the module to fry and eventually to fail. I have replaced two on my car and the last one I fitted was not a original part but a funny replacement that was supposed to be waterproof but it too has failed. Ive given up for now but when I do repl...

Re: front ride height
apparently the strut assembley came from the same model but as there are a few variations of the 1.5 dci I wonder if that would make any difference. Also I recently read somewhere that you shouldn't tighten things up to correct torque until the car is resting on its wheels. Would that make any diffe...

front ride height
Hi all, my Megane has numerous issues and after costly garage bills and dodgy workmanship i've decided to do things myself. So recently I changed both front strut assemblies including top mounts, springs and struts. It was like for like with some second hand ones that came assembled and when compare...
