Megane II Parcel shelf - WTF?
When I got my Megane, the parcel shelf was not attached to the tailgate. The strings were there, but the bits that plug into the hatch were not, so I have nothing to attach the strings to. However, if I lift the parcel shelf up to get big bags in, the shelf pops off the hinges.. The parcel shelf doe...

Re: Real-world MPG for a 1.6 VVT?
Just looked it up on Parkers guide - it says 36-40 mpg, so I guess mine's about right...

Update: It's had a couple of longer runs over the weekend and the MPG is now around 37..

How much does a cambelt change cost?
I'm just weighing-up the pros and cons for my Megane II.. It's the 1.6VVT one, and I'm just wondering how much servicing is actually going to cost me.. I work on "Bangernomics" principles, and a £600 Megane IS a banger. A very smart one, but a banger, so I want to minimise costs wherever p...

Re: help needed please
Firstly, I'm not a Megane specialist, but I have a lot of years tinkering with cars behind me.. If you've had two stalks in the car, and both give the error, it's probably not the stalk. (Unless there is a common fault with stalks failing..) The car was without power for a long time - it's more like...

Re: 1.5dci egr...yeah, i know!
Hi folks, My 2005 1.5dci Megane has a lumpy idle, not always, but quite often. If you increase revs to 1000, it disappears. Before i start weeping that it may be DMF, I would like to check out the egr. Can you confirm that this is the egr, top centre in the picture please. http://i1240.photobucket....

Re: 1.5dci egr...yeah, i know!
I've a 1.9dci so cant say....but does look correct. Suggest checking the manuals linked to above. My DMF is on the way out - confirmed when the timing belt was changed where a slight 'give' in the springs was note by the mechanic. This doesn't cause me rough idle (blocked EGR valve did) but it is n...

Cheap Dash-Cam?
Yes, I know this is a generic question, not specific to the Megane, BUT: Can anyone recommend a CHEAP, fairly decent dash camera? I want to be able to read number plates, and since it's dark half the year, good low-light performance would be useful... I keep seeing cheapies offered via groupon etc, ...

Real-world MPG for a 1.6 VVT?
I've had the Megane for a few weeks now. (Finally got the V5 back yesterday..)
What kind of MPG SHOULD I expect for this car?
Most of my trips are short ones around town at less than 30-mph with the occasional 20-mile roundtrip in a 60-zone.
I'm getting about 35mpg.. is this about right?

I'm guessing that this happens when starting from cold?
If so, mine (same model) does it a bit too. Just take it easy until it warms up..

Re: Dash Car Wheel Missing
When I got my Megane and popped down to the scrappy to get a replacement filler flap, I mentioned the car's electric gremlins. He said, " You'll find that something else stops working every week ". I lost the first 3 fan speeds and a rear electric window in the first week. :( I swear they ...

Re: Card Key Problemo - Nearest Renault Garage?
I was wondering the same..
I only got one card with the car, but there's deffo something in the manual about setting up a second card.
Now, what if I get a card from a scrappy? Can I tell the car to use that as a second card? (OK - I know the emergency key will not fit..)
That would be very cool.

Re: Over night rain causes bulk head water noise in morning?
I wondered what the sloshing noise was!
My FIAT used to make similar noises, but that was because of the leak in the cooling system...
Yet another thing I need to check.
