start with cleaning the throttle body and the butterfly inside it with carb cleaner and check the air intake tubing for any leaks / splits.
Beyond that could be a sensor, but pinpointing which one could be costly / difficult without the ECU flagging it up in a diagnostic .

by "original tyres" i meant what was on out of the factory i.e. manufacturers recommended...not whats been put on the car by you or previous owner. If V is what renault recommend then you have to put a minimum of V on the car - simple.

youve picked up an old thread here and dont say which engine your have. if the mechanic has tried most things has he read the error code stored in the ECU ? if the dash light is on then a code will be stored - this will say what sensor is at fault. if your in the AA / RAC they will come and read the...

I would start with a new set of spark plugs, followed by at least 2 new pencil coils (so you can swap a pair at a time - outside 2 and then inside 2) and wd40 the coil connectors ensuring a good connection.

the dephaser pully is only on the 1.6 VVT engine
if you give some symptoms of your issues someone might be able to suggest cause.

for these sort of random gremlins water in usually the cause in the UCH / Fusebox / ECU;
Is the oval bulb cover in place on your passenger inner wheelarch..if it's missing then defo caused by water.

in engine bay you have 2 different fuses, one for left side lights, and another for right side.

silly question but you are trying it when it's raining ? ..it isn't intermittent regardless of rain..it wipes once, and only again when it sensors rain on the windscreen (where the mirror is stuck on).

Thanks. I don't suppose anyone knows what the difference is between the V and W speed rating and also between 89 and 93 load ratings? What does that translate into in mph and lbs etc? I think the ones I have on at the moment the Michelin are rated W. you must not get a lower speedrating that the or...
