Steering Wheel shake?

My car is a 55 plate Megane 1.6 vvt, can anyone tell me what might be causing my steering wheel to wobble whilst driving? This happens at around 50-60 MPH whilst driving on the motorway. I can feel it shaking, if you momentarilly let go of the wheel you can see it wobbling from side to side. I've no...

Colour code location?

Can anyone tell me if there is an ID number located on the Megan anywhere that tells you exactly what the correct paint colour for the car is?

Thanks.

Thanks for your response Iain, Can I just ask your opinion and advice? If the main problem here is getting the garage to diagnose the fault, do you suggest I leave it until the fault gets progressively worse? It should be a simple matter then to trace the fault. If it is an engine mounting fault and...

Engine Mounts?

Can I just a question? I’ve got a 55 plate Renault Megane 1.6 vvt. I recently had the Dephaser camshaft pulley replaced but everything else has been OK thus far. My question is this; do these particular cars have engine mounting issues at all? In the past I have owned quite a few Minis in various gu...

Rear Window?

Hi has anyone heard of this? My car is currently in the Renault garage having the Dephaser Pulley replaced. It went in 8:ooam yesterday morning as per booking. I phoned them today (Tuesday) to obtain a progress report, it appears that my car has missed a recall notice sometime in the past, something...

Hi Phil,

"8 Hours" guess I'm walking home tonight then, sounds like replacing one of these Dephaser things is a big job.

Is changing the cam belt a normal thing the do automatically when they replace the pulley?

In the Garage today Dephaser replacement

My Magane 1.6 vvt is in the Garage having the Dephaser replaced under warrantee. Just a quick question, Can this part be replaced whilst the engine is "in situ" or does the engine have to come out?

Also does anyone know how long it takes to replace the offending camshaft pulley?

Thanks

That reminds me… While we are on the subject of HiFi, Who is the manufacturer of the CD player, speakers, e.t.c. in the Megane? This one in my car appears to be the OEM one that comes with the car i.e. its standard equipment it’s not an aftermarket one, are Renault manufacturing their ow...

Ok I’ve had my Megane in the dealers today. First of all I have to say that the service I received from them today contradicts stories that I have been told by a few “know it all’s” who were obviously trying to wind me up instead of being helpful. I took the Megane 1.6 VVT ba...

Thanks again Iain, As I write this I can tell you my Megane is back at the dealer for investigation as you suggested. Oil looked OK and Filter is clean(ish), as for having my service book stamped, that is a good question…. I’ll have a look at that, my dealer whom I bought the car off, ha...

Hi Iain, Thanks for your response, You wrote, “Was the car serviced before you picked it up? It might be that you've got a noisy hydraulic tappet, which is why it sounds a bit clattery in a morning, particularly if the oil has not been changed?” I bought the car last Saturday 09th and wa...

Should I be "Phased" by this?

I’m from the Channel Islands, moved to the UK recently. Last Saturday, traded in my 10 year old Ford Fiesta 1.25 Zetec for a Renault Megane expression 1.6 VVT from a major used car dealer (not mentioning their name). Anyway, the Megane is a 55 plate and has done 8600 miles, apparently it still...
