Re: airbag ecu part no.

Spray the connector and the seat position sensor with plenty of WD40.

Re: strange lights

Check the cover on the headlight access hatch on the front left wheel arch liner. If missing, then electrical problems are expected due to water damage to UPC.

Re: Megane 2 vibrating noise

The plastic panels can be pulled off, then lubricate the joints with silicone grease. Sometimes, a piece of foam or silicone spray may help. These cars are out of production, so it makes little sense to invest much in their refinement. The RS models do not creak as they are built at a better factory...

Re: Megane 1.9DCI poor mpg

Oil, filters, EGR valve, compression check, injector return flow check, timing belt - in about this order. On the other hand, I switched from a 1.9dci to RS250 Cup and no regrets. The latter is built by far better and more practical.

Re: new engine now wont start!!! :(

By hydrolocking you probably meant dipping the whole car in water while on full throttle... Although painful, it might have been a fascinating experience, well done! Yea, hydrolocked engines usually need to be replaced, which is too expensive for an old car and guttless engine. Why don't you use thi...

Re: Engine Management & Service Light

Start with reading the factory workshop manual about these codes. The circuit means wires.

Re: Megane 225 Spare Tyre

250 cup comes without a spare - I had to buy one. I was lucky to find one new wheel with a tiny mark at £200 on eBay together with a new tyre. It fits in the boot well upside-down only.

Re: Fuel Leak from Sender Unit

Hi, 1. No, read the trouble codes with an OBD reader. It can be an injector, or air ingress into the fuel line, or the fuel filter, or the turbo... 2. Never tried. If the level is low, then shouldn't be a problem. Diesel fuel is not overly flammable and its vapour will not suffocate you straight awa...

Re: Model Year - Vin Identification

The model year and the production year are different things. The facelift for Megane 2 occurred in 2004, and this was the most visible although technically insignificant thing. At some point later new trims were defined and some cars received downgraded front calipers and arguably unnecessary gadget...

Re: Engine Management & Service Light

Slave cylinders tend to fail occasionally in these cars. I've seen reports about these. They are made with plastic and sit on the gearbox shaft. When replacing the clutch it makes sense to replace the slave as well to save on future costs. A slave cylinder comes with a clutch release bearing. The ma...

Re: card reader not recognised

The ignition electronics in the key is separate from the door remote. If it is not a hands-free system, then the ignition part of the key is powered by a coil inductively coupled to a wireless power supply in the card slot. This coil fails frequently. I once repaired a key card by cutting it open an...

Re: Engine Management & Service Light

The engine is an easy thing - start with OBD, any garage can do it, or get ELM327 from eBay for a fiver.

The second last paragraph is more worrying. It looks like the clutch is shot. With the DMF and slave cylinder it will cost about £1200.

Re: Gear Shift Return

I guess the cure is to replace the stick mechanism, which is accessed after removal of the exhaust pipe -- fiddly.
