Re: the few problems i have! brakes, lights, handbrake and revs!
Josh - be aware that these go through brake discs quite easily. Being from the old fashined school of motoring I expect the discs to last 100 k miles and to replace the brake linings. I have a 11/03 (53) 1.6 car and the front and rear brakes and discs both neded repalcement at 50 k miles. Dealers ch...

Re: megane mpg
Linux, have a 2003/1.6 5 - door. Commute to work ( 1/2 0n M6) and local roads give me arround 38 mpg/200 miles per week. I've just started dropping my daughter off at school which means more M way mileage and I can get over 42. I suspect if I tried hard I could get over 40 - but I tend not to hang a...

specy, search the forum for failed electric windows - you'll see the problems cause by the seals and the after effects - the window motor usually goes and its a £ 300 dealer fix.

Re: Just got a Megane! but a few minor problems
S'furby, Have 11/03 dynamique which failed with the dephaser at 40 months and cost £ 600 !. Got to 50 k miles without further mishap this time last year. Re: Timing belt service
Petsco,
No comment on timing of the timing belt replacement - have 11/03 1.6 and that was done after 40 months following dephaser failure - otherwise it should have been 5 years. Don't forget that the work is a nice juicy job for a dealership with their inflated rates.

Immy - you read my mind, Unfortunately I have two of them - both to go next year. Last service on 11/03 petrol ar 45 k miles dealer noted several jobs, which I added up to cost £ 1700 inc service - none of these jobs were carried out by dealer - infact I got independant to do discs (f & r) at 65...

Re: Leaky exhaust....
Brian, Have Nov 2003 Dynamique - just before both 2008 and 2009 MoT's I've checked the exhaust to note rust/holes around the back box seams - lower seam weld right at the rear - and the car is parked on a slight decline - so its the opposite to where you may think. Solution: £ 5 tube of plastic padd...
