Re: Tyre and MOT Fail Question
If you've only done 30 miles (presumably your invoice for the car stated the mileage when you bought it so you can prove the fact) then I'd take it back to the garage and ask them to put on a new tyre. It's a bit naughty to sell the car with an illegal tyre and it's not much better to sell a car wit...

Re: Tyre and MOT Fail Question
The MOT only applies to the day of the MOT, that's to say an MOT examiner cannot foresee what could happen to the car in the next 12 months to the next MOT. It's a snapshot, a moment in time. Another way of putting it is that the MOT is not a guarantee for the following 12 months. If the car had 6 m...

Re: timing belt change
5 years or 72k is the interval I think. Not a job I'd fancy tackling as you have to get locking pins to lock the timing as well as the issue of access, etc. If you do it wrong it's an engine wrecker. Larger balls than mine required. Buy quality kit online and hand your keycard to a man that can! (No...

Re: Locking the car with the roof down.
Details of all Renault alarms are in a separate black and white leaflet (A5 size) which you should have got with the rest of the bumph in the handbook pack. It's not part of the the main handbook because the alarms are not factory fitted (different countries have different alarms so they can't fit a...

Re: Stickies for fuel consumption
Went to Scotland for week. Rented a cottage so we took everything with us, two crates of food and drink, usual luggage, cool box, breadmaker (don't ask), kitchen sink, etc. I filled up with fuel before we set off (I normally only ever drag around half a tank) and the poor car looked like it was towi...

Re: Keyless entry buttons will not lock
Common fault, I've had 3 of my 4 replaced under warranty. i think if you're out of warrant the cost of replacing the sensors is not worth the benefit of of using the buttons imo.

Re: advice please
The first change of ownership at 10 months could indicate that the car was first registered to the garage as a either a demonstrator or a courtesy car. These plans are usually 3 or 6 months but when this period is up and the garage puts new cars on demo plans the 6 month old ones go on the forecourt...

Re: "MIN." shown in display
This message would not normally come up on it's own. When you start the car the OIL OK message comes on screen for several seconds. While it still says OIL OK press the little black pin which is in the instrument surround, now you should get the |ooooooooooooooooo| display. Maybe your pin is stuck d...

Re: Alloy Wheels (17"): 04 Megane 1.9 Dynamique DCI
If it's the 17" Renault option on a Dynamique it's called a "Nervasport". They crop up on here quite often for sale, alternatively there's always Ebay. Unless you want to pay dealer prices it could be a waiting game.

Re: Expenisve? Or good value?!
Hi, if your car's old enough to need a timing belt (5 years) then it's out of warranty so I would stay clear of Renault franchise dealers for all but electronics and ecu's. Since my 1.5dci is now 5 years old I buy good quality parts online and take them to my local garage/MOT station for them to fit...

Re: Rear Disc (ABS Ring / Bearing)
Hi John, Replaced all 4 of my discs, pads, rear bearings and ABS rings last July . Got them from clickamotorspares via ebay for £149 delivered. Good service and the parts went on no problem. (Local garage charged me an hours labour, £52, job done.) I agree with Joe, not doing the bearings at the sam...

Re: Humming Noise between 50mph and 70mph
Does humming only occur when you have a passenger in the car?
If so, turn radio over to a talk only station. If humming persists pull over and eject the passenger from the car.
Same applies for those annoying whistling noises.
