No problem, I hope it sails through the MOT.

Re: Has anyone try T-Cut color fast scratch remover?

If in doubt try it somewhere inconspicuous first. For example the door shut or the B pillar or under the back bumper. Most scratch removers and polishes work in the same way - removing the top layer of paint. Some are more abrasive than others. If you're careful you should be OK. I haven't tried thi...

Re: warning lights on 1.5 dci

Press the button on the end of the wiper stalk repeatedly until the spanner symbol and miles to service appears on the display (Some models ,Scenic, have 2 buttons, which cycle through the options in opposite directions - either button can be used in this case) Press and hold the button The display ...

Re: timing belt cost ??

I bought the timing belt kit and auxilllary belt online for £81 and my local garage charged me £124 (3 hours labour) to fit them. So £205 in all. ( I didn't change water pump as the belts were done due to age, 5 years old, rather than mileage which was only 24k). A water pump is about £25 and may ad...

Re: Megane 2 rear fog lights not working

Worry not, there is only one foglight ! The one on the left (nearside) is redundant but still has a bulb in it (so it looks pretty). Presumably the redundant left hand side is used in Europe for left hand drive models (at which point the rhs becomes the redundant one). There is only one bulb per sid...

Re: Steering lock problems

As long as you reported the fault inside the warranty period I think Renault are bound to fix it under warranty. It isn't your fault that they can't locate the problem. A few years ago we had a customer reporting the same problem, although not as random and intermittent as yours, so I watched him ge...

Re: Been sat for too long. Time to get it back on the road.

Hi, i'm no mechanic (I used to sell them , not fix them thank God), but for what it's worth here are my observations. 1. Gearbox. Start with a change of oil and filter. 2. Windscreen. If the car has no MOT then you'll have to get a new one unfortunately. If the car does have an MOT you could wait un...

Re: cambelt change on renault megane cabriolet?

As your car is well out of warranty, I wouldn't pay main dealer prices. If you have a local independent garage you trust ask them to do it. I bought the timing belt kit and auxilllary belt online for £81 and my local garage charged me £124 (3 hours labour) to fit them. So £205 in all. ( I didn't cha...

Re: new megane ,what wheels

Hi Den, when changing to alloys it's not just the diameter (15",16",17",etc) that's important. Other things matter too like offset and also the tyre size that you put on (if you look at some of the posts, threads and pics on here you'll see it's not straight forward). I'm sure someone...

Re: 6 speed gearbox

Assuming: 1) It actually fitted and 2) Ratios were suitable and 3) It cost £400 to do and 4) It increased your mpg from 35 to 40 and 5) Petrol costs £1.35 per litre You would need to do 18,200 miles before breaking even and getting your £400 back. Considering you'd have to buy it and try it before e...

Re: New Megane owner

Welcome aboard. It sounds like you have auto rain sensitive wipers and auto lights on your Megane. This is standard on Expression, Dynamique and Privilege models. What you think is intermittent is actually the automatic setting, the wipers will cross the screen once and then only react to the rain t...

Here's one on Ebay for £50. Wrong colour front for Privilege I think, but you can probably swap front and buttons with yours. :) http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/RENAULT-6-DISC-DASH-CHANGER-RENAULT-MEGANE-LOOK-/140560855764?pt=UK_Audio_TV_Electronics_In_Car_Entertainment_GPS_In_Car_Audio_Players_PP&hash=it...

Re: What spec is this car?

Post a pic if you can. The style of the alloys and the colour of the leather interior should give it away. If it's a beige leather interior it's a Privilege, if it's Charcoal it's a Dynamique. The brushed Al3 dash suggests it's a Dynamique. If the leather is Red or Green it's a rare dynamique. (In 6...

Re: Is this a good price?

£591.00 for 4 205/50/17 inch Michelin pilot primacy tyres? I think that price is probably about right for that tyre, but they are expensive tyres. If you look at the tyre reviews website (link below) you'll see either equally well liked tyres for less money (such as the Falken 452 - see second link...
