The door sensors have a habbit of packing up so someone may have removed them to gain access although it sounds like whoever did it didn't have alot of patience.

Could well be the Camshaft sensor. That normally is a non flashing toxic filter light combined with the service light as you describe. Costs about £75-100 if your out of warranty. You may find the car runs fine alot of the time with this fault.

I can confirm they do use exactly the same speaker sizes with exactly the same restrictions, except the rears are dead easy to change.

also swapped a rear for the spare and still no difference in the display


That would suggest you don't have this feature on your car. Cars without still have the tyres visible in the display on the dash, they just don't do anything.

It takes a little bit of effort. Rest it on the pegs and then push down and towards the front of the car and you should hear a clunk as they clip in.
