The Renault fix is to replace both front seat airbag looms... This is due to "microcuts" on the under seat connector.. However you can just try unclipping the connectors and then re attaching them. This may work for a while.. Note that I replaced both of mine but the light has now started to come on...

It will not be the motor, as the speed is controlled by the Rheostat.. Is this a Megane Hatch or Megane Scenic? Common problem on the scenic where the rheostat and connector overheats..
