I too thought the 5 door was built in Spain, along with the tourer, but the saloon wasn't built there. Not sure on the 3dr. As far as quality, there will be small variations between batches of every component, and incremental changes etc. As well as the time/conditions when the car was on the produc...

Re: A few questions (mostly odd!)
2. Radio turns off every 20mins when driving, beeps and turns off. It's supposed to do this when idle so could this also be the fuse problem? You should check the radio gets ignition switched 12v OK. If the ignition isn't on, the 20 minutes turn off saves the battery from being drained, so to me it...

I think its the Siemens subsiduary "VDO Dayton" (sometimes known as Siemens VDO or other variations). The in-dash changer isn't on btheir website, since it's probably only available through Renault dealers... Renault used to use Philips for radios, but haven't for a few years now, at least not for t...

One thing that I did hear today whilst in the service center that worried me though is the service staff telling a customer that the 2nd service costs 400 quid if the car is still under warranty but significantly less if its out of warranty  This would make sense, at least in as far as when ...

I'd recommend The Roof Box Company . I used them last year (before I got the Megane) for Thule bars and box for our 307. Since we've now got an estate we don't need to use the box (although in the future I expect we will - children seem to require mountains of things for short holidays). Our Tourer ...

These days there are products on the market that pretend to the radio to be a CD Changer, but actually transform the control messages so they can control an iPod. If that sounds interesting, then search this forum for Connects2 and Dension. If you want to keep the standard Tuner List or Update List ...

I thought that brake lights and rear fog lights used the same bulbs, so it would just look odd having an extra light coming on when you brake. The other day I unclipped the internal cover for one of the rear lights and removed the board, but was surprised to see all the bulbs the same size. I have s...

Nick, The CTVRNX001 looks to be what you'll want to get an aux in on the Tuner List, although it wont charge your Creative (although it should be possible to rig something up to do that - like a car charger). I would expect that you would need to use the source button on the head unit (or stalk cont...

I have now found a 54 Scenic (well after my AA inspection) with a tuner list Head Unit. Is there anyway, like with the update list HU to add an aux port? No, not a simple analogue aux in. You'd need the Update List for that. Any other cheap / easy upgrades I can do to get better sound? Can anyone r...

I don't have an auto Megane, but my wife drives a semi-auto Corsa, which may be similar - it's basically a computerised manual. Anyway, the way that gearbox works is that it holds each gear longer while the engine warms up, presumably so that it will warm up faster. Also I find it reluctant to chang...

Having tried some other things, I think I'll get a Connects2, but wanted to share what I've found out about the Update List radio and it's compatibility. It uses the VDO CD Changer protocol, as it's probably designed/made by them. They have 2 versions, 1 analogue, 1 digital. The analogue goes on the...

One of the reasons we recently traded in out Pug 307 was 5 weeks after the warranty ran out the gearbox counterbalance fell off. I picked it up so all they needed was a new bolt. Took it to the main dealer since I reckoned they'd do if faster than any other place and it still took them 2 hours. No g...
