That is bizarre!
It could be a faulty chip in either your tester or ECU, or 'Park brake switch #2 released circuit failure'.
I've never come across it before. Are there any symptoms?

I deleted your other duplicate post. There is another almost identical problem listed today. Please cross-reference.
Hope you get it sorted!

Re: Knock From The Front - New Wishbones!
It's a 30 minute job per side (max) for a decent garage to remove each strut. There are only 5 bolts each side from memory (two on the bottom, and three at the top).

Re: side lights
Disconnect the battery negative lead, remove the rear trim to expose the wiring from the rear clusters (take them off too). Then trace the wiring back to any bolt on the chassis. Check that all the connections are not corroded. Put it all back together (this should not take more than 30 minutes), th...

Re: Renault Megane 2005 1.4 STARTS THEN CUTS OF
Cleaning the throttle body is definitely the way to proceed. It is the number one problem on the 1.4 engines. I doubt any sensor is to blame as the car does start, it immediately stalls - the starter would crank for ages if not. Your first post, by the way, is the best possible way to describe the p...

Re: creaking front suspension
That's odd. Since you have replaced just about everything, I can only speculate. Brake sticking? Engine mount? Try rocking the engine; and jack up the offending corner and push/pull on the wheel to listen out for noises. Don't lubricate anything made from rubber with mineral based grease. Always use...

Re: Alternator 1.6 megane ii removal
This is the kind of question which sometimes 'slightly annoys me'. Seriously, what do you think? I would guess that they didn't reduce the bolt count for no reason. By all means fit it and see how you get on - personally, I would be interested to find out. Be aware that if the belt snaps, it might w...

Re: timing belt
Alex's reply might sound a little terse, but it is without doubt, free from any error! Can you isolate from where the sound comes? The reason is that the fault you describe coincides with the work done. The factory manuals are meticulous in their detail - for a reason. It could be a loose lifter, ba...

Re: timing belt
Diesel or petrol? Your friend might have made a mistake installing the belt. Did he/she check the belt tension using frequency measuring equipment? If not, you could be in trouble. There are so many reasons why you have this problem, I can't list them sensibly. The manuals (in this forum) show in gr...

Agreed. It can't be complicated - 12V and ground. Simple to test with a meter.

Re: Air con noise
I'm not a legal man, but my reading of the act suggests they should make remedy. Perhaps you should consider the option of 'rejecting the car' - this means you hand it back and get your cash to shop around elsewhere. This again is speculation, but if it is an option (that you will have to research),...

Re: Blower only works on setting 4?
I have no clue if this part is suitable since I have no idea what year/marque/chassis code you have (this gives me an idea). Read the manuals, and look at your chassis code (it should be on a plate inside a front door). Common codes are BM0G, CM0G, etc. Obviously, the year of manufacture plays an im...

Re: bolts in 03 door
Ring the dealership. Or, look in the manuals. Better still, buy some M3/4/5/6/8/10/12/16 by 75mm set screws from a hardware shop and see which thread without a problem. You can adjust their lengths by putting a nut on and cutting off the excess length. Removing the bolt will restore the threads wher...

That should give you some pointers!

Re: Air con noise
It sounds from what you describe, as though the compressor is knackered. But, this is speculation. I doubt the unit can be repaired if it is at fault. If you bought the car with a warranty, there should be no reason why the garage that sold it should not honour any defect and subsequent repair. Have...
