Re: How to: Replace the 'throttle style' internal handbrake

brilliant guide, 2 questions: who is it that you phone for the part?, what is the part number? Basically all I did was a web search for breakers yards, then phoned around until I found one that had the exact trim and make/model as my car in stock. I got the guy to describe in detail the appearance ...

Oil Change Technique and other mysteries

Please don't berate me for abusing my car after reading the following post. Astute observations and suggestions would be most welcome however! The story so far: Bought the F9Q 1.9 dci 03 plate 5 years ago. 30k on the clock. Full service at 18k as was once upon a time deemed adequate by Renault deale...

How to: Replace the 'throttle style' internal handbrake

This guide refers to replacing the internal ‘throttle style’ handbrake lever on a Megane Dci 1.9 diesel, but should apply equally to a number of other models. The reasons for undertaking this work include a broken release button, amongst other things... Before starting, park the car on LEVEL GROUND...

Re: Megane Won't Start When Using The Clutch

Very common wiring fault near your feet. Just push all the connectors together and strap the wiring to something secure. Mines been at it for years - always use the brake pedal now, nothing to worry about.

Re: Locks covers - peeling!

I did mention it today when I picked it up but they didn't seem to want to change them. They will replace the worst one but not the others which I can see are going the same way (cracking but not yet peeling) Wait two weeks, then after wrecking them deliberately, go back to the dealers and demand r...

Re: Why is BT allowed to exist?

Why are they allowed to take as much as they feel like from my account? They can't. Go to your bank, or log on to your online banking and cancel any standing orders or direct debits to BT. Before doing this, check that you won't incur a fee, and read all of the small print. If you are sure that the...

Re: Adjusting main beam angle?!!

When I took mine in for an MOT, the guy stuck a long allen key through a hole in the plastic trim under the bonnet near the top of headlamp, turned it a bit, and the alignment changed.

You might need more technical advice!

Worth having a look though...

Re: Picking up My 1.9 DCI 120 on sat But What MPG will i get ?

How long is a piece of string?

If you thrash it on a track maybe 15mpg. City stuff around 30mpg, and motorway at a sensible speed up to 55mpg.

Also factor in which F9Q engine build it is, and whether it has been looked after...

Re: Vibrating under braking

You say you haven't changed the brakes over 30,000 miles, possibly the entire lifetime of the car? Never mind the discs, check the bloody pads - is there anything left of them?! Take off a front wheel and look through the calliper housing - inside the housing there are two pads either side of the di...

Put the key card in and hold down the start button. The accessories will come on first, then shortly afterwards the ignition.

Re: what is this wire for ???????????

Took the centre console off mine last week and found the exact same thing. On mine the same cabling comes from a loom that includes the handbrake on/off sensor (green wire) and some others for heated seat connections. Mine doesn't have heated seats, so I'm assuming that the same wiring loom goes in ...

Re: HANDBRAKE NOT HOLDING ON THE RATCHET

Trotter /wolfie_d, I have the same fault with the handbrake not holding. Can you explain in detail how you fixed it? I have attached a link to a pdf file below that shows photos and some notes on what I have discovered so far. https://www.adrive.com/public/6be274d789cfe278a2c012abd8d0499ab51b5e624f6...
