Checking, cleaning and drying the plug contacts has helped in the past....in my case, a new motor was necessary. I got 2/3 of it payed by Renault, so this might be woth a try (my car is 01/2004 and has just crossed 60000 miles)

Re: Using the Emergency Key

I think the best bet is that your cardreader has had it....in a working car, if you pull the card then you need to press the button twice to stop the car. It cant be the battery, the car also starts with empty card battery when you insert the card. Inside it there is a normal transponder just as in ...

Re: Flat spot on 1.9dci

in my view the only thing you can do is to remap it, but I for my part would not do that....those Renault Diesel engines are too touchy and prone to failure...

Re: Thinking of buying a Megane diesel

If I would go for my car again I would ignore the 1.9 and go for the 1.5....I only chose the bigger engine because my car is fitted with partial leather and I couldn't find a 1.5 with it...

Re: scenic 1.6vvt hard to start

As Renault and Nissan are twin companies nowadays I think it should be ok for them to replace the pulley.

First thing to check on any Renault petrol engine indeed are the coils....they frequently are on their way out and afaik the symtoms in that case are similar to yours....

Re: Pictures

Fantastic idea....sth like that is missing here. We have such a section in our german Megane-board as well, see here:

https://moodymann.m31s05.vlinux.de/megan ... m.php?f=23

Every thread starts with the respective pictures and then discussions of them....

Mine does this too, when really cold....as far as I remember the earlier 1.9ers are prone to that....

But you can't compare them - those two engines are totally different....I guess you really have to search for the leak....

Re: What are good cc colours?

There are 4 great colurs for any car: black, black, black and black ;-) It is by far my favourite car colour, although I have newer ever owned one. The reason for that is that I usually do not buy new cars, and with used ones the colour is nearly at the bottom of the wishlist.... So, as here in Germ...

Re: Thinking of buying a Megane diesel

The later the better, so much is for sure....especially the pre - 2004 models are prone to the odd failure. I would go for the 1,5 dCi with three figured HP....I think it is the best compromise in terms of efficency and power and costs... Typical problems with diesels are failing glowplugs and (sadl...
