Re: very bad mpg Scenic 1.9dci

Hi Karllap, When was the car serviced - in particular when was the air filter last replaced? Is the car sluggish - does it appear to need a good thrash to get it up to full torque? Can you hear the turbo run up to speed and regulate? I have the same model and at a similar age to your wife’s Scenic, ...

Hydraulic Clutch Bleeding

Good morning All, Quick question regarding Hydraulic Clutch Bleeding and / or fluid replacement - is it required on the Megane or Scenic models? Having changed the fluid in the brake lines a couple of times now. I am wondering if the clutch needs to have the fluid replaced or bled on the same interv...

Re: Rough feeling idle - EGR?

i had this problem this week - turns out the car ate 1 litre of oil this month (i checked oil levels last month) My 1.9 Dci is prone to eating the oil during cold weather as well. I believe that short runs don't help in this cold snap. A typical journey to work for me is 5 miles door to door, so th...

Dashboard - Intermittent Failures

Good morning All, Just recently my 2005 Megane 1.9 Dci has started to have some intermittent dashboard failures when the car is started. The problem first arose following a long journey at the beginning of last week. When I stated the car the following morning the clock had reset itself, and the tri...

Re: LH Wheel has play in the 3 - 9 o'clock position.

if you do a search on ebay for the part number there is one seller selling them at £81 inc P&P.The hardest part of changing these is holding the rack whilst trying to undo getting the track rod end off without the rack twisting. I have managed to get a genuine Renault tie rod PN 7701474448 from...

Re: LH Wheel has play in the 3 - 9 o'clock position.

The whole steering rack won't need to be replaced you can buy track rod arms like these on ebay https://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Renault-Megane-02-08-Tie-Track-Rod-Steering-Rack-End-/360255765366?cmd=ViewItem&pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item53e0eabb76#ht_1205wt_939 I would get a garage ...

Re: LH Wheel has play in the 3 - 9 o'clock position.

...the track rod end ball joint as this can be rolled by hand unlike the RH side which is rock solid. Can you explain what you mean by 'rolled by hand'? It very much sounds on first reading that something is loose that didn't ought to be. On closer inspection last night it appears that the track ro...

LH Wheel has play in the 3 - 9 o'clock position.

Hello All, I’m hoping someone can help me narrow down what problem I have with the steering system on my 2005 Megane Scenic. The car has now done around 80,000 miles and I have noticed there is some play in the LH front wheel in the 3 – 9 o’clock position. It is not so noticeable that it is causing ...

Re: Rear wipe

I have the feeling its some Mech-Tronics that have been thought through by Renault... For me the wiper gets stuck very rarely, as been suggested at a pit-stop, and once the driver’s door has been opened everything work fine again. I have a feeling this happens if there is a delay in the wiper moving...

Re: fuel filter

Hi Heavygoodsman, Did you prime the filter after you refitted the filter bowl to the car using the hand priming bulb located on the RH side of the engine bay? You need to squeeze this black bulb by hand a few dozen times to prime the filter bowl. once primed the bulb will become solid as it is full ...

Re: 1.9 DCi - Consuming oil at a rate of 250ml per 5000 miles

Thanks Alex... I think you have answered exactly why the oil consumption rate has gone up for me. I used to live in Luxembourg, and every journey was minimum time spent at idle, and mainly motorway driving at 60 to 80 mph. Ten months ago I moved back to UK (with a left hooker too ) and now spend a ...
