Problem solved.

It wasn't the coolant temp sensor.

Megane 1.4 16V Idles High

My 2005 Megane 1.4 16V has been fine until recently. The car now seems to idle from cold at around 1000rpms, then after 2 minutes the idle will be 1500 and once the engine is to temperature the idle is 1800. -If i dip the throttle at idle, the revs drop down from 1500rpms to 1000rpms then bounce bac...

Re: 05 Renault Megane II 1.4 16V Shakey Idle.

Ok well i clean the throttle body today and the car drives a lot more smoother now, only thing is i still get the gentle shake / rock when idling. Didn't think the throttle body would change that problem but its smoothed the drive of the car x10. Anyone who wants to do it on there own car and not pa...

Re: 05 Renault Megane II 1.4 16V Shakey Idle.

You are doing the right thing -- clean it. I think the Tech. Note mentions that some gasket must be replaced when doing it. Yeah i have ordered the gasket and it will arrive on Saturday in time for when i clean the TB. I dont have any Tech. Notes but i'm sure i'll have no trouble finding it. i have...

05 Renault Megane II 1.4 16V Shakey Idle.

My Megane always shakes gently when idling at 800rpms. If i rev higher to 1000rpms or more, the shaking disappears. I thought this could be due to a failing ignition coil, only to replace all 4 pencil coils and still have the same problem. The car starts fine, and i believe drives fine. The car has ...

Re: How to test pencil ignition coils? Megane II 1.4 16V

Thanks mate, but that was also me asking the same question on the Fiatforum. Sadly that method of testing coils didn't work as the coils are different to the ones they are thinking off.

I have no engine management light on nor do i have any errors stored. I believe the coil is failing not failed.

How to test pencil ignition coils? Megane II 1.4 16V

Hi i own a 2005 Renault Megane II 1.4 16V. The car drives normally I think, no misfires, but when idling i can feel the whole car shake now and again, the revs dont change, however recently i am starting to notice a drop in revs now and again, but its not hand in hand with the shaking. I have read t...

Re: water leak and door handle problem

According to peeps, this is a common fault. I've sorted the leak on my 05 Megane II. I fitted a door skin between the door and the plastic door trim and i silicon'd the gaps on the back of the plastic door trim (especially behind the door pockets) as water was coming in at the corner of the door poc...

Re: vibration when the car is iddle

I also have the same problem with my 05 Megane 1.4 16V. The car sort of gently shakes at idle. Car drives ok, seems a bit slow at takeoff, so i too am assuming it could be the coils, but i was wondering is there a way to test the coils?

Re: 2005 Megane 1.4 16V 5DR Need General Help

Thanks for the replies. When i fully serviced the car i noticed the engine rocks quite a bit, but with this movement i would expect it to cushion any vibrations from the engine rather than enhance them. Best way would be to see how the engine moves in the engine bay whilst on I guess. I dont want to...

Re: 2005 Megane 1.4 16V 5DR Need General Help

Ah thanks for the replies. Well i carried out a full service on my renault and decided to have a look at the doors. I've come to the conclusion water isn't getting in through the speakers but from either side within the door pocket as theres a crevice in each corner which is exposed and open to wate...

Hi, im new to the forum and would like to say Hello to all. I recently purchased my Megane which is now out of warranty and i want to protect it from any future mishaps.
