The amount of options it has will not make it any more expensive to service and as you are buying it from a family member, they should be able to tell you how reliable it has been and what repairs have been necessary. I had a bad experience with the Proactive automatic gearbox when I had my 2006 mod...

You don't say what year your Leon is, but I had a Leon back in 2001 and I think you will find a drop in solidity with a Megane, even the later ones.

I am not saying the Megane is badly built, but it just hasn't got the solid feel that the Leon has.

Just my opinion of course ;-)

Residiuals are very poor currently, so I would say new Megane will only make things worse.

Re: Megane 1.6 VVT Automatic

Do you think my idea is a good one? After my experience with an 06 Phase II 1.6VVT Auto, I would say no, but maybe I was just really unlucky, others seem to have no problems. Have to say though, it does have some odd behaviour characteristics :? Do a search of my posts and you will find some info t...

Re: Alarm sensors on phase 2

Just picked up our new CC Dynamique S :D, I'll post elsewhere when I've taken some pix! One question - this one doesn't have the alarm sensors on the windscreen pillars that the old one had, in fact I can't find them anywhere! I've read somewhere that they are now microwave rather than ultrasonic -...

Yep, auto folding of the door mirrors has never been a standard fitment on any of the models in the 'Megane' range. As already mentioned, if you do a search you will find a post where someone converted theirs to autofold 'a la Peugeot'. It requires removing the door pull trim and doing a bit of extr...

Re: Electrochrome mirror

Hi. I currently have a 1.9 dci Privilege Megane CC 53 plate. I am getting a new Megane CC, same engine but Dynamique with Comfort Pack. I love the car, so thought I'd upgrade for peace of mind. It'll have everything I'm used to that my Privelege model has plus cruise control. However, I don't think...

...My other options have been Daihatsu Terios 4x4 VW Golf FSI match 1.6 Vauxhall Astra... My personal opinion would be go for the Golf, great car, but just a bit bland. The auto gearbox is great though as it has six gears and is very smooth. Obviously my opinion of the Megane has taken a nose dive ...

No offence taken here at all

I think it is difficult in text to get your point accross sometimes without it coming out the wrong way :?

I am pleased your Meg is a good one and long may it continue to be :D

..... The Meg is a medium priced well specified car that no doubt has it's faults. If we are all going to buy an Audi A3 or a BMW 1 series, why would we have a Meg in the first place and then decide to slag it off when we could afford a "good car ..... If my 06 Reg Megane had been as good as my pre...

Re: Well I never thought Id see the day!!

:.....Has anyone else got so fed up with all the problems that they just had to get rid?? ..... Yes, I was fed up to the back teeth with my 06 Meg that I had to get rid of it after only 10 months. I bought a new A3 SE Sportback Tiptronic in March and I haven't looked back. Lot more money, but its i...
