i managed to remove the wires from the cradles with the use of a small flat-head screw-driver. Just pull of the top/seal and you should see the pin holders on both side, just move the pins outwards in pairs and bingo, the wire is released. I connected the wires to the new lamps as previously suggest...

Hi, just purchased the new lights today at the price webcode mentioned (thanks webcode).
Will fit them this week and post a wiring diagram if nobody else beats me to it!!!
