Yep. And an engine where the Turbo is just on its way out can also NOT be stopped by pressing the button.....

Re: 04 Megane DCI Cut Out Suddenly!!
For confirmation: The car stalled when you pulled the card?
If that is the case it has nothing to to with the Turbo in my view. Once the Turbo starts burning the engine oil, the engine keeps running even when pulling the card.
Maybe "only" some electrical problem?

Re: 04 Megane DCI Cut Out Suddenly!!
Car revving up and then dying sounds like a blown turbo to me.....car is revving up because it is running on the oil that is leaking through the damaged bearing.
Usually, if you dont force the engine to a halt immediately you are looking at a widespread engine damage....
Best of luck....

Re: Dumped my Megane....
Just for the book, by station wagon I meant this:

At least here in Germany, these are far more asked for and thus more expensive.

Re: Dumped my Megane....
Nice one... I was in the market for an Astra as well, but decided against it. I wanted a station wagon , but they are much more expensive and, as Diesel, usually have quite high mileages...and when I saw the FlexSpace-Seats of the Meriva I quickly decided to go for that.... Only minor flaw up to now...

Sold the car because I found it to risky.....after 18 months and 12 times in for repair and with the warranty running out in May I think I had no other choice....

Re: Dumped my Megane....
Yep, they also have had some kind of quality progress over the last few years. But , to be honest, I wasn't looking for an Opel specifically, it was more a case of buying a car off a specific dealer, who is a friend of our family. I had the choice between Mitsubishi and Opel and thus chose Opel as M...

Dumped my Megane....
....it became unbearable. After 12 service visits and about 4000 euros spent (luckily most of it by my warranty company), I decided to call it quits as the latest event was a broken bearing on the left drive shaft. Repairing it would have cost me 800 euros, so this finally was it, because in may my ...

Re: Wipers
in my view this is always the case with those stupid boneless wiper blades....I tried both Bosch and Valeo and they both were just as sh1tty.... I found on my car that the best wipers are the Valeo (SWF) standard ones: Klick They, of all wipers I tried, produce the least screeching (none atually) an...

Re: TUBRO GOOSED?
turbos are a sad problem with meganes, but the steam would have to be blue and the revs of the car would go thru the roof - did that happen? when the steam ist white I'd normally say it is a blown head gasket because then cooling water gets sucked into the piston chambers
