i think my old 05 1.9 dci did 120-130k before something in the engine rattled and died.

it's always best to replace bulbs in pairs. as you've already experienced, the other will eventually go soon. i was told ages ago (and might not be an issue on modern cars) it's due to the working bulb receiving a bit more power than usual (due to the other side being dead) and stressing the element.

its cheaper to buy a megane with climate controls in it than retro fit

yes. with windows closed, hold the front drivers set of switches up for 10 seconds of so. repeat wth rears (again on drivers side switch bank)

replace the battery? sounds like it's on its way out

or it's the common master/slave cylinder problem if the pedal isn't coming up off the floor properly.

tried unmuting from steering controls?

if it judders, i'd look at the wiper motor

sounds like the scuttle is blocked

i vaguely recall its a common problem on the early models to do with the wiring loom

top mount...?

if you've a 3 door, try the cable under your drivers seat first. it's possibly loose.
both are common problems on the site.
