Re: WHINNING NOISE

Hi. I thought I'd revive this thread rather than start a new one. My car makes a similar sound as described by original poster i.e. whines at low revs, low load, most notably on picking up revs to move off slowly e.g. when in stop start traffic. I haven't really noticed it before today, but I usuall...

Re: 1.9 Dci Clunky Gear selection

Thanks for the replies. From what's been said above it seems it's quite commone for 3rd to be less than slick, so that's put my mind at ease.

Cheers again.

1.9 Dci Clunky Gear selection

Hi. Since I've had my Megane 1.9Dci 04 reg Sport Hatch selecting 3rd gear has never been the most pleasant part of driving the car. It doesn't much like being rushed into selecting 3rd, and I wondered if this was normal or whether it's something I should be concerned about? It seems to be mostly whe...

Re: Door Creaking/Rattle

A bit of grease sprayed on the locks solved the problem for me. Thanks.

Re: Door Creaking/Rattle

Hmmm, I get this too on the driver's side of my 3 door. I might spray the lock with some PTFE grease in the morning to see if that stops it. I thought the lock was somehow slightly out of line allowing movement in the door. But if what has been said above is true then maybe I'm wrong and it just nee...

Re: Cost of cambelt service 1.9 Dci

OK thanks guys. I had read somewhere on the Internet that it was a lot more than that. So that's a bit of a relief.

Thanks again.

Cost of cambelt service 1.9 Dci

Hi. Does anyone know how much I can expect to pay for a 1.9DCi cambelt change service at 72k miles? I expect this to be in a year or so time, and I'd like to plan ahead if it's an expensive one! If it's really expensive then I might exercise my option to return the vehicle instead, which depends a l...

Re: Rattly Sunroof - 1.9Dci Dynamique

Thanks for the above. I've checked the mechanism which looks well greased. I think the problem is just that the back eadge of the glass vibrates on tick over enough to rattle against the rubber. I'll try cleaning the rubbers to see if that helps a bit, but I think it's going to be a matter of keepin...

Rattly Sunroof - 1.9Dci Dynamique

On idling the engine creates enough vibration to cause the back edge of the sunroof to vibrate, which is a bit irritating! Has anyone had this problem, and if so is it fixable? I've had a little look at the mechanism and I haven't been able to see any obvious way of tightening it up. Any suggestions...

Fair play to the place i bought the car from, they've got a bad reputation but they took the car in with no notice at 8.50 and phoned me at 10.20 to tell me it was fixed. I don't know precisely what they did because I was too busy to find out. I was just glad it was sorted. The door switches had def...

Yes, this exact same thing happened to my car over Christmas. Garage fixed it under warranty. They diagnosed it very quickly and sorted it within a few hours, so it must be well known!

It must be the day for it, because my car has done precisely the same thing tonight. It was too dark for removing the door card, so I've got a stylish black bag attempting to keep the car dry over night. I just hope noone takes a fancy to trying to rummage around in the car overnight ! It is odd tho...
