Dephaser again?! Surely not...HELP PLEASE!!

My 52 plate Megane has had everything that could conceivably fail go wrong with it. In 18 months of ownership it has had a new Camshaft dephaser, cam sensor, crank sensor, 4 new coils, new throttle body, all going wrong intermittently. Last November the dephaser was done to the tune of £700, today i...

Re: Strange Intermittent Judder/Loss Of Power, Now Cutting Out!

Mine was doing the same before I got the Cam sensor replaced, random cutting out etc. Your symptoms sound exactly like that

It's now doing it again although slightly more aggressively/frequently and it's a suspected TDC/MAP sensor.

Re: Crank Sensor/Throttle Body fault 1.6 VVT

I've got it back now, another £200 lighter with a new throttle body. He showed me the old one and it had worn down in one part significantly. On normal cars you can adjust the setting by 1mm or so it wears down another part, however Renault have welded it so this can't be done. Surprised? Anyway, st...

Crank Sensor/Throttle Body fault 1.6 VVT

Hi, I am really hoping someone can help me. My 52 plate 1.2 VVT Mégane is causing me no end of trouble. I've been through the entire charade 6 months ago of getting all 4 coils replaced, then the dephaser pulley replaced and of course the accompanying cam sensor, costing around £1,000. Recently, 4 d...

Well you were right, it's a cam sensor.

Quoted £185 to fit which I thought was a bit steep no?

He's giving me a discount and charging £115.

I wasn't expecting it to be this much since the part is around £30!

Unless it's the unbelievably unjustifiable charge for diagnostics...

Well about two weeks after I've had the dephaser done, it's started cutting out again... unbelievable.

Any ideas?

I just had the depahser replaced and the mechanice told me that the new ones have been modified and are wider and hence will not have the same problems. I will not be happy if it goes again in 12,000 miles as it cost me £700 for this. He also said in such instances there's a chance your water pump c...

1.6 16v VVT and I get aroung 30mpg urban and about 35mpg on the motorway. It must be said though that I d have a fairly heavy right foot although I'd expected better.

I've just had that godawful camshaft dephaser pulley replaced so I'm hoping for better going forwards.

That is quite ridiculous, Renault garages seem to try anything to rip you off. I paid £3 for a new bulb and fitted it with my dad which in total took around two hours for us to figure out (including a break to relieve the frustration that was building up). I refused to take it to a dealer after just...
