Re: demisting my megane
I find putting on the air-con on full blast at the screen works quite well. Yes it cold but it works. The air-con can be used at any temperature you like :-) It is very effective at de-misting and it is the norm rather than a last resort to use it to clear the windows - cars with climate control wi...

Re: Trip computer how many mile left to go
Er, no!
You've still got that 80 miles' worth, you've simply decided not to use it before filling up on this occasion.

Re: Haynes Manual
Would you like Haynes to continue taking the considerable time to produce these manuals, perhaps so a future car purchase will also be covered? Yes? Then buy the bloody thing, it's not expensive. :banghead Openly asking for a link to an illegal copy and suggesting a fellow member scans pages of thei...

Re: Diesel vs Petrol
What about the initial purchase price of the diesel which can be up to £1000 more.
A mag recently suggested that you now need to do an annual mileage of 20,000 for a diesel to pay for itself.
Maybe a 1.5 dci versus 1.4 petrol would be a fairer comparision?

Bike rack/carrier
Has anyone successfully fitted a strap on bike rack to the back of their Megane hatch? I'm looking to carry a couple of bikes but roofbars plus carrier for the top would be very expensive so hoping cheaper route might work

Yeah, but with the modern front ends, you need to remove the bumper before you can drive up a set of ramps

North Scotland
Evening.
Just thought I would continue the current trend and see who else lives in the Northern half of Scotland. We'll make that Perth and upwards so that there might be more than two
I'm in Inverness myself, so any other 'Highland' Megane owners here?

My Extreme did not have an alarm fitted as standard, though I have since fitted the normal Renault one.

Re: Electric Windows
My 1.4 extreme operates the same way - i.e. deadlock close only on drivers side and driver's side window is the only one to operate with ignition on. However if you 'dummy' start by pressing start button with car in gear and foot on the brake but not clutch, full ignition is switched on and the pass...

Re: Car judder and hard to get into gear
My 1.4 also judders when idling. I think its common to all of them and not something to worry about too much.
But it might be linked to your gear selection problem - maybe gearbox mountings are loose?

Re: Failed MOT
Annoying but atleast there's nothing major. Gaitors splitting is a fairly common problem with lots of cars. Hopefully it happened quite recently (good chance if it wasn't noticed at service) and the CV joints themselves aren't worn.
