Re: Expert Mode
I had exactly this problem when my Megane was brand new - turned out that the radio was faulty and was replaced under warranty.

Re: Draining Battery
Apologies in advance for what is probably a very stupid suggestion, but have you checked the footwell lights? Some models have switches in the underfloor "secret" compartments (beneath driver's and front passenger's feet) which switch on the footwell lights when these compartments are open...

Re: Clutch judder
Had a similar problem with my 2.0 petrol - turned out to be engine mountings, apparently not uncommon.

Re: Idle and Battery Issue
Interesting one! I suppose it's not impossible that an intermittent fault with, say, the alternator could cause these symptoms. Bear in mind that many electrical faults in the Megane are known to be caused by water in the fusebox(es). Sorry I can't be more helpful, but next time it happens, try disc...

Re: BETTER ROOF AIREL NEEDED..... WHICH ONE TO GET ?
That looks great (and vandal-resistant too) ... please post more details. I presume that, being "amplified" it requires power as well?

Re: low idle?
I think adrian mgn is probably referring to the "engine mountings". These are a known weak point in the Megane and do cause engine vibrations at idle when they are on their way out.

Re: battery flat and now the electric gremlins hate me
ANDI, Use the scroll wheel on the column stalk to change the numbers, briefly press the BOTTOM button on the stalk to advance from one digit position to the next, and when you've entered all four digits, press and HOLD (for several seconds) the BOTTOM button to "enter" the code. If you've ...

Re: Vibration At Tick Over
pw981, I was referring to engine temperature, not outside temperature. In any case, here in Johannesburg it never (well, hardly ever) gets really cold

Re: Vibration At Tick Over
Yes absolutely. That's how mine started - vibration at idle, only when cold. Then progressed to vibration at idle at any temperature. Replacing the engine mount solved the problem - until the next one failed :-( I suspect that the knocking and clunking only happens when the disease is fairly far adv...

Re: Electrical fault
Just a guess - some kind of loose connection which was disturbed when connecting your trailer/caravan electrics recently? Lights that come on when others (brakelights) are activated usually suggest a poor earth (bodywork) connection somewhere. Let us know what you find.

Re: Foot well lights
I guess this must have been quite a common problem. I notice that this feature (automatic footwell lights) has been quietly omitted from my 08 model.

Re: Parcel shelf doesn't fit!
In case it helps, I measured my strings over the weekend. 265mm / 10½" centre-to-centre. I have had this problem once or twice after removing and replacing the shelf - due to the "hinges" not snapping back into position fully. It can be a bit tricky to fit correctly, especially if you...

Is it the original Renault-fitted Tunerlist or Updatelist radio/cd? If so, it is probably wanting you to enter the security code. Does it not show "Code?" (or something similar) on the display?

Re: car won't start!
The starter motor draws a LOT of current - even the slightest resistance in the circuit can cause problems. If any part of the cable termination/connection onto the battery can MOVE, then it's too loose! Having said this, don't overtighten it either as this can cause other problems. And be VERY care...
