thanks for your help. correct, mine is not handsfree, that sounds like far too much technology to go wrong... :) actually the spare key had not been working for a while... :( so they've reached the point fo not working correctly, independently of one another. this may influence your call on the card...

are the keys `handsfree`? if so, do they work when in the slot? the lock/unlock + immob systems are independent circuits (ie. if the battery is flat,you can open the car using the emergency key + start the car with the key in the slot) sorry,can`t help with key specialist near you,but can you not f...

I hear what you're saying, but....would the doors not lock un/lock if the batteries are dead?
I thought (read?!) that the immobilizer/key in slot recognition is another part of the key?
