Re: 2003 Megane 2 subframe bolt does not stick

How easy was it to remove the bolt? Is it possible you've completely stripped the threads in the chassis? Are you sure the bolt you are using is the correct bolt? They are real long bolts. These subframes can be completely removed and then jacked up into position and the bolts are long enough to star...

Re: Lower control arm ball joint

That seems to be the only reasonable explanation. Lucky you wasn't at any speed. That could have been catastrophic!

Re: Lower control arm ball joint

I reckon this would have David Blaine completely stumped too. :ner Even if the locking nut were to come off the pinch bolt you still have to crack the bolt loose and use a punch to tap the bolt through the hub. Yes there is a groove in the ball joint fitting that has to line up in the hub perfectly ...

Re: Ball joints

If you are referring to the suspension arm lower ball joint then it is 18mm. I recently replaced o/s ball joint. Simple press out, press in.

Re: 2008 1.4 16v

The clutch on these Renault meganes sit high throughout the life of the clutch. I dropped a new clutch kit and csc bearing in mine and it's been a high clutch ever since. I usually wait til I get a few more tell tale signs of a worn clutch before I commit to stripping one and replacing. They are sim...

Re: Megane 1.5dci 106 2006 new clutch won't disengage

Using an ezibleed kit is the simplest way of bleeding a clutch. Every clutch I've done I've used the ezibleed with no problems whatsoever. People tend to struggle to bleed the megane because of the two clips on the hydraulic pipe that connects to concentric slave cylinder inside the gear box. One cl...

Re: Speedometer not working

Do you have ABS warning light on? First start by checking ABS sensor wires for cracked or damaged wires

Re: clutch is not returning

Sounds like the concentric slave cylinder has gone. The internal seals inside the cylinder can deteriorate as they age and the clutch pedal will not return. Unfortunately being concentric slave cylinder this is a complete unit with release bearing inside the gearbox meaning the gearbox has to be rem...

Never introduced myself

It appears that having replied to quite a few posts I never actually introduced myself. Sort of like the ghost member that just lurked about :ner I'm quite oftenly found with black hands staring up at the underside of a car :rock

Re: Renault Megane 15.98VVT Dynamique 2dr CONVERTIBLE 2006

Doing that job myself cost me about £350 for cambelt kit, coolant pump, dephaser pulley from Renault specialist, coolant and correct timing tool set. My dephaser solenoid was working fine so didn't need replacing. £915 seems a ridiculous price! Oh and if it is the solenoid causing the problem why do...

Where is your location?

Also can pick these up online for next to nothing. Have you tried one off another make car? Are the threads not all the same?

Re: Massive Oil Leak

Hi, Just thought I'd share that my son's Megane had a pretty bad oil leak, literally dripping off the sump when the engine was running. Anyway, had a look and was fairly confident that it was coming from the thermostat housing. Got one of the silicon ones off ebay for £4.99 and a couple of hours la...

Re: Oil Level

I checked your profile and this shows your car as being a 1.6 megane. This engine holds 4.8 litres of engine oil.

Did you happen to check the level of the dipstick before dropping out the oil?

Re: lowering the clutch biting point

Jesus, no reply in 2 hours and you are bumping threads!? DOT 4 should do it. You can buy it just about anywhere. Keep it in a sealed bottle as it is hygroscopic (it absorbs water) which is what Alex meant by the characteristic of the fluid. The water absorption is what makes it change colour. Never...
