Re: Check door locks message help!!!!

I had the check door locks message after not driving my car for a few days. Stayed on for about a week then went away all by itself. Shortly before I think I might have put too much oil on the locks and some of it got into the micro switches . Blast of electrical contact cleaner might help. :conf

Re: Megane mk2 noise

Fairly sure the 1.6 has a solid flywheel. If the clutch was breaking up it should be noisy with the engine revved in neutral?. Since it's not slipping and the gears engage okay it sounds fine. Are the engine mounts okay maybe the engine is touching the body? Could be the VVT dephaser pulley a weak s...

Re: Megane II poor headlamps

I replaced the n/side headlamp as the electric adjuster wasnt working, I still have the old unti so might have a look at this as the o/side is looking poor in comparison and I know that has been full of water when a 'mechanic' didnt put the bulb cover on correctly at mot and I later had to drain th...

Re: Braking fault

Sounds like corroded contacts in the fuse box next to the battery on either a plug, relay or fuse. Battery needs to come out to get at it if memory serves.

Re: Which fuse do I need to change - and where do I find it?

It was the plug on the back of the instrument binnacle for me that had worked loose. The crash pad above pulls up and back and the screws holding the clocks in are behind. Hope this helps.

Re: Should this have passed MOT a month ago??

I would keep the old discs and measure the minimum thickness of the disc with a micrometer . If it's below the minimum allowed the discs are worn out and should have been replaced by the dealer otherwise the car was not 'fit for purpose' . Similarly if the rear pads or discs are below the wear limit...

Re: megane 1.5 diesel cold starting issues

Like the hair dryer idea know a few farmers that do that :) Only a delay of 5 seconds or so for glow plugs yesterday and it was minus 3. Starts up straight away with a bit of smoke. Modern slim plugs don't need the 10-15s that the old Peugeots needed. Faulty glow plugs flag up a fault code usually o...

Re: Dashboard just stopped working!

I had a similar fault. Luckily it was an easy fix just pulled up the binnacle over the clock gauges and found a plug at the back of the instruments was loose. Been fine since.

Megane II poor headlamps

I have tried uprated bulbs, checked earths and rotated the bulbs but nothing improved the dismal dipped headlamps on my Megane. They were getting dangerous - it's no fun having to drive with the fog lights on all the time  Unfortunately it's not possible to remove the projector/lens assembly ...
