Quick update. So now engine has run in i am averaging 46.8 to the gallon and i do around 600 miles per week. 50/50 motorway, ordinary roads. All wheel bearings done along with lower arms, anti roll bar bushes and track rod ends. Makes a big difference to the handling and steering. Just got the rear dampers and service the torsion bars. Did the bearing, lower arm and anti roll bar bush and end. What a nightmare. All was going well until it came time to remove the outer and it was solid. I have a 10 ton press and it would not move. Yes they are. The switches for rear windows and the motors are known weaknesses in the Megane's of this era.

Further to doing the cambelt. I made the holding tool with a bit of flat bar and my welder. If you buy a decent kit, such as Dayco, then the caps for the ends of the cams come as part of the kit. I used the little torque gun from Machine Mart which cost approx £28.00. No probs undoing and tightening...

What a nightmare. Water pump leaking, changed, New cambelt, tensioner and idler. I have never taken so long to do such a simple job. Never again on this car.
