Re: lack of heat/ controls on full/ no noise/ no visual leaves/ changed fuse - drove home yesterday with window open -2
I'm assuming you mean your fan isn't kicking in? sounds like a blower motor resistor to me....did mine not so long back with an ebay replacement. Cost about a tenner, simple enough job but a bit diddly as access is tricky. My Halfords flexi ratchet screwdriver was a god send but not essential there ...

1.5DCI turbo oil leak
Hi all, Not a biggy but I thought I'd ask anyway I've had an oil leak on my turbo ever since I bought it 4 years ago that's been picked up on the MOT every year. TBH it uses between half a litre and a litre of oil a year and the turbo spools up fine with the kind of power I'd expect from an 86 BHP e...

Re: airbag and service light displayed
If you haven't got access to a code reader then it might be worth cleaning the connectors under the front seats as a starting point. Disconnect the battery and leave the car for 30 minutes to allow any charge to dissipate. Then clean the contacts with some spray cleaner and a stiff brush. Hopefully ...

Re: Megane 2 cabin air fan again!
Had the same issue on my Megane plus other cars. It is usually the resistor, cheap enough on ebay, fiddly to fit but doable with youtube guides. Sometimes you need a resistor with a loom repair kit so might be worth checking for melted connections before ordering the part If you think its a pig of a...

Suspension Knock
Hi all, I'm having a bit of a head scratcher tracking down a knocking from the drivers side suspension. It started a couple of weeks back when the spring snapped on me, nice and near the top so no dramas getting home safely. Swapped the spring but then it developed a knocking noise. Having driven 40...

Re: airbag light stays on
Is it just me or does every make and model of car have a dodgy air bag connector under the drivers seat?
Always the first port of call when the airbag light comes on for me, I usually use a bit of contact cleaner while I'm there

Re-sync key after flat battery
I swapped to my spare key a few months back as the low battery warning started to flash up in the car. Had every intention of getting a replacement but TBH I just plain forgot. When I finally got round to fitting a new one it was flat as a pancake and the central locking now needs re-syncing to the ...

Re: brakes discs and pads question
Not 100% without your reg but according to ECP my little 1.5 90 has the same 260mm vented disc as a 1.9.
Put your reg into euro car parts and check mate, if they are the same I'd be inclined not to settle for cheap pads tho!

Re: Retro fit auto dimming mirror
If the Megane is like my old pug it just requires a power source so if you have the wiring it should work plug and play. The only issue I forsee is whether the bracket is strong enough for the larger, heavier mirror.

Re: rear carries-hub bolt?
I've only ever seen standard sockets on slider bolts, they get pretty grungy and can take a decent amount of torque to loosen so star drives etc could chew up very easily. The carrier bolt itself doesn't need to come off to change discs and pads, just remove the bottom one and swing the caliper upwa...

Can you not fit a blanking plate before the intake manifold as opposed to on the EGR itself?

Re: AIRBAG FAULT DF072 & DF071
Can add much except airbag faults are usually a bad connection somewhere in the system, electrical contact cleaner and a needle file on all connections is my usual plan of attack. One thing I will say tho is be VERY CAREFUL with multi meters on air bag circuits, they have been known to set the airba...

Re: power wing mirrors
I replaced a cracked electric mirror casing on my 406 with one from a breaker with manual mirrors, the casings were identical so it was just a case of swapping the internals over. The big issue will be whether the loom to the door has existing power for mirrors, you may be able to tap into the court...
