Steering whine at low speeds
:-( Sigh. No sooner has the local Renault garage 'fixed' the clicking noise from the steering than a new fault arrives. Now the steering whines at parking speeds. The renault 'expert' tells me that the noise is within limits. Funny how it didn't do it before though. I understand this is an electric ...

I havn't tried my Megane yet, but it looks like a pig! Having said that, the nearside on my Mk1.5 Focus was a swine as well and caused a lot of skinned wrists/knuckles. I wish manufacturers would think this through - at least my Fiesta, because of the restricted access, allowed you to take the headl...

I don't think they're linked by anything other than the fact they don't last more than 10k miles. I asked the question about the dephasers to our local Renault garage the last time I was in and the technical 'expert' became very evasive about how many failed units were themselves replacements,...

Is there a cutoff date when these coils started to be OK? I assume Renault became aware of the issue so did they do anything about it? Mine is a 55 plate and seems to have had all the typical faults, which considering the car had been manufactured for around 3 years then is pretty poor showing for r...

1.6 Whine at around 50mph
My 2005 55 1.6 VVT is making a slightly irritating whining noise at almost exactly 50mph. Its not too loud, but noticeable. At first I thought it was interference on the radio (that sort of whining noise) but since I swapped the radio for a new Sony I've noticed it again! Is there any known gearbox ...

Used these guys a few times as I bought the car from them. Very courteous but have failed to resolve a couple of problems with the seemingly common Renault line of 'they all do that' (relating to the hesitation from cold on the 1.6) Cars been in 5 times in 4 months. They always wash the car , but I'...

New car
The general comments in the motoring press seem to be that post 2006 Meganes are much better in the build quality and reliability stakes.
Obviously they're about the same as the original 2003 models

Steering noise
My 2005 1.6 had the steering noise which was 'fixed' using that method by Renault. It lasted about 4 weeks and was back in yesterday for the same thing which is now 'fixed' again! What doesn't exactly inspire confidence is that the renault technical 'expert' said they'd made a note of the work in ca...
