Re: Immobiliser fault? This Meggy is heading for the scrappy!

I took all the electrical brain boxes out of my car once, I opened one up, nearly had a heart attack and then put it all back together with crossed fingers that it would be ok. I didn't know about this DCU. It sounds like this is the end now. If this thing cant be replaced or repaired then wha...

Re: Loss of/lack of power when pulling off

Hi im not too familiar with the petrol models but I would suggest that you go with your gut feeling. It seems entirely plausible that the fuel pump at your fuel tank is faulty some how. I think you should take it out and inspect it. I have a diesel and when I first bought it, it seemed to lack power...

Re: Another window problem, but....

I have a megane mk2 2004 and have had the windows out and I can say that there is no plastic at the top. There are two holes in the glass at the bottom where the glass is held in place to the window mechanism. Have you actually seen what needs to be replaced or are you taking the word of the mechanic.

Re: timing, is it worth saving?

Thanks Mike. I will give it a go this week as Im off work. Ive got the manual so I will just follow that. You have given me hope. Out of interest, why did the crankshaft bolt come loose. I did it up to torque as specified. Would it be true to say that those bolts should only really be loosened and t...

Re: Electric Fault - Rear Right Light + Other Problems

Sorry for this but have you tried replacing the bulb, this is the week link and the most common light fault. Failing that it could be (excuse my technical knowledge) the thing the bulb is attached to. From memory its like a board with circuits to each bulb. replace mine for £10 and hey presto my lig...

Re: timing, is it worth saving?

No doubt that damage has probably been done at some point. I ALWAYS used the timing pins and always got it aligned and before it all went horribly wrong and when I was able to start the engine after doing the cambelt the noise from the engine did seem as though it had slipped a tooth and this is the...

timing, is it worth saving?

1.5dci 2004 5dr authentique About 6 mths ago on the back of doing lots of smaller mechanical jobs I decided to sort my cam seal leak and at the same time do the crank seal, cam belt, water pump, oil and filter and replace coolant and aux drive belt. My mate came over and helped get the cam seal off ...

Re: I think I have knackered the ECU......

I would have thought that you blew the big fuse on the red positive lead. I think its there to protect the electrics from that kind of thing. Check or replace this then trickle feed your battery. Really you should remove the battery and trickle feed from your home. Good luck.

Re: Swapping disks and window issues

First get a Haynes manual.

Its definitely easy enough to do but having the tools for the job is a must. If you don't have a torque wrench already then its unlikely that you will have any of the other things you will need. So I hope your idea of basic tools includes a selection of sockets.

Goodluck.

Re: How to push a window up manually?

I did the same, swapped a working temic from one car to another and now my window works but when I press up it goes down and when I press down it goes up. Im just thankful its working. Ive had enough window problems on these cars. Sometimes I wish they were just manual.

Re: use of TDC locking tool question

Sounds to me that something is not right. What was the original position. I have a similar problem on a 1.5. I did the cambelt and it was perfect, my car ran quieter than ever but then I noticed the cam seal leaking some oil so took it all apart to fit a new cam seal. I did this in a rush and thinki...

Re: Air Con problem wit Megane II 1.5 dci 07 plate

I had this problem, I had it refilled. The guy said it could just be a fuse which is difficult to get to. I checked it but its ok. I figure it could be the pressure switch which is at the front of the car behind the bumper area. Worth replacing because beyond that things start to get too expensive.

Don't lose your cool. The clips can be difficult to get of. also they can snap so unless you are replacing them take extreme car. I used screwdrivers to push in the little notch. Good luck with it.

Re: 1.5 dCi Alternator replaced (with a few photos)

I too have recently tackled this job. So far I have only took the alternator out, not put the new one in yet. In my opinion the hardest part was trying to remove the alternator once the bolts were out. Its quite heavy and awkwardly shaped plus there are some pipes in the way. More guides like this w...
