I have a megane mk2 2004 and have had the windows out and I can say that there is no plastic at the top. There are two holes in the glass at the bottom where the glass is held in place to the window mechanism. Have you actually seen what needs to be replaced or are you taking the word of the mechanic.

I would have thought that you blew the big fuse on the red positive lead. I think its there to protect the electrics from that kind of thing. Check or replace this then trickle feed your battery. Really you should remove the battery and trickle feed from your home. Good luck.

First get a Haynes manual.

Its definitely easy enough to do but having the tools for the job is a must. If you don't have a torque wrench already then its unlikely that you will have any of the other things you will need. So I hope your idea of basic tools includes a selection of sockets.

I did the same, swapped a working temic from one car to another and now my window works but when I press up it goes down and when I press down it goes up. Im just thankful its working. Ive had enough window problems on these cars. Sometimes I wish they were just manual.

I had this problem, I had it refilled. The guy said it could just be a fuse which is difficult to get to. I checked it but its ok. I figure it could be the pressure switch which is at the front of the car behind the bumper area. Worth replacing because beyond that things start to get too expensive.

Don't lose your cool. The clips can be difficult to get of. also they can snap so unless you are replacing them take extreme car. I used screwdrivers to push in the little notch. Good luck with it.

I too have recently tackled this job. So far I have only took the alternator out, not put the new one in yet.
