Re: Renault megane cc 1.5 Dci 106 bhp - no power and Check injection
I've not checked my brake pedal switch - I assume that if this was engaging (and causing a loss of power), that I'd have brake lights on at the back at the same time?! No, that is not correct. The brake pedal switch (actually in the passenger footwell of right hand drive cars) contains two complete...

Re: Dull, dull headlamp bulbs.
You say "no retaining clip", so that is a problem. Each bulb is supposed to have a sprung wire clip that hinges over the back of the bulb and clips into place to hold the bulb tightly into the reflector.

Re: looking for help couple of issues
A very common cause of window problems is the temic unic attached to each window motor. The temic is the same on all four windows, so I would start by swapping the working unit from your drivers door into each of the rear positions and checking if they start working. Also, make sure the switch on th...

Re: Hands-free keycard?
Mine only has two doors as it is a convertible, but basically does the same as yours. On my passenger door the car unlocks as soon as I touch the handle, but on my drivers door I have to operate the door handle first for it to unlock. I have always assumed it is because the car is designed as a left...

Re: Temic units
There are several different types of aftermarket replacements available that definitely do NOT work properly on a convertible. I tried one that specifically claimed it did, but they lied. Because of that, I had my original temic repaired here - Temic Repair Service He has a very quick service, and t...

Re: Locked Wheel Nuts
My local village garage does it by welding a new nut to the top of the existing wheel bolt.
As they already have the welding kit, the cost is therefore only pennies each time for the additional sacrificial nut.

So do you now just leave the compressor running all the time you want cold air?
Doesn't that over pressurise the system?

Re: 2006 Megane cc roof switch
Some of the non-standard aftermarket replacements for temic modules behave exactly as you describe. I almost bought one but checked with the supplier first and was told "... it won't work from the centre console switch but will from the other switches." I suggest you check if you have genu...

Re: My latest project
I have just bought a 2005 Megane CC with issues. 1. The driver's window doesn't work. 2. The roof doesn't work Point 1 above is probably the cause of point 2. Not necessarily. I've had rear windows fail, stuck in the up position, and my roof still worked as normal. I'm not sure about front windows ...

Re: Sunroof shattered 2006 RENAULT MEGANE DYNAMIQUE VVT CONVERTIBLE
Is the replacement covered by your car insurance, all the glass in my car is. If so, I'd contact the insurance company. If not, I'd see if I could get a secondhand roof panel from a scrapyard and get a local independent car bodyshop to fit it. What did the dealer (I assume you mean an official Renau...

Re: Airbag light
Try moving the steering column adjustment. On mine, the nearer the steering wheel is pulled towards the driver, the more likely the airbag light is to come on. If I position the steering wheel as close to the dash as possible, then the light is off 99% of the time. Just moving the wheel does not ins...

Re: Air con compressor
Hi, There seems to be quite a list of parameters that the control systems in the car require to be correct before the air con will be "authorised" to operate. From memory they include refrigerant pressure, coolant temperature, engine speed, vehicle speed, fan speed and obviously air-con op...

I find a bit of silicone grease applied to the full length of the roof seals a couple of times a year stops the drips.

Re: Clock Spring Question
When I fixed mine several years ago, I opted for replacing the entire squib with a genuine new one from Renault. I decided not to buy a secondhand one, partly because there were lots of different variations based on options fitted to the car. Mine has auto headlights, but not cruise control for exam...
