ECU

Hi, My Renaultsport Megane finally let me down after 5 years of ownership! Apparently, a coil has given up the ghost and brought the ECU down with it. Both need to be replaced. However (and please excuse my mechanical/electronic ignorance) the car was re-mapped shortly after I bought it - is there a...

Stainless Steel exhaust and remap SWINDON

Hi, I'm looking to get my Renaultsport Cup Megane MK2 (2005) fitted with a stainless steel performance exhaust, along with an induction kit and remap. However, I live in the Swindon area, and have not been able to find anywhere to have this done. I can find outlets/companies many miles away, but not...

Re: POWER STEERING FAULT

Hi, This might be a bit of a late reply, but I had mine done at Aaron's Autos in Derby. They did both sides (replaced hub bearings) for £280 including VAT. I live in Wiltshire, but blended the repair in with family visit to North Yorkshire same day. Downside was, had to take the wife shopping in Der...

Re: POWER STEERING FAULT

However, some of you might be interested to know that Renault will not supply the 'bearings' only for the hubs. (Cause of my steering problems) but only the complete hub at something like £500 per side!! After a bit of searching I found a garage in Derby who replace the bearings for £140 per side. I...

Re: POWER STEERING FAULT

Hmm, not sure how to take your comment "...what do you expect...etc.." I might be foolish, but I'm not an idiot. That aside, I take on board your further comments regarding bushes etc, this will be worth speaking to the mechanic about. As for your hopes pertaining to the type of engine oil...

POWER STEERING FAULT

(Have also posted this in 225 section, but imagine this could be a common fault?) Hi, this adds to the continuing saga of the heap of @#/* I bought called a Renault Megane Mk11 225 Cup (2005) in Sept 2012. Since i last wrote the passenger door tray has been filling up with water and the boot locking...

Since i last wrote the passenger door tray has been filling up with water and the boot locking mechanism seized up with me eventually breaking the 'latch' trying to open it!! I...

BEST PRICE FOR DISCS AND PADS?

Hi, I'm told I'll need new Brembo discs and pads all-round very shortly. (yes, I was well and truly tucked up by a seller on eBay) I want to fit all vented; does anyone know where I can get the best price for these parts please? Many thanks, Alec

Re: New Owner With Some Questions :)

Hi, I'm a comparatively new owner too. My driver's side window rattles from down inside, which turns into a buzz at speed. The guy I bought it from told me he'd had the motor (?) done and waterproofed by someone on eBay by sending it away; he said the passenger side had also been done. Can't help wi...

Re: Clutch

If that's the acid test, then 'No' it definitely doesn't! So I guess it's just a case of getting used to it!
Many thanks for your reply.

Clutch

Hi, I'm slowly getting to grips with the pig of a 225 Cup I bought a few weeks back!! However, there's something else I need to ask about, which is: The clutch pedal is 'loose' or 'sloppy' at the top of the pedal travel. The car appears to pull just fine though. I'm used to a really heavy clutch fro...

Re: RS OWNERS, WHERE IS EVERYONE FROM?

Hi Paul, I'm from Swindon. Have just bought pig of a 225 Cup (2005) which I'm busy trying to sort out!! But still love the car! Have 2002 Clio 172 still to sell once number plates have been swapped over. Clio more 'fun' to drive, but love the raw power of the Megane!

Re: bonnet wont open?

Hi, I'm no expert, but have just bought Megane 225 and my bonnet doesn't actually 'pop-up'; I have to get my fingers down between the bonnet and the front of the car and force it upward before pressing the catch to release it.

Re: Uneven wear on back tyre

Hi, thanks for your reply. I did wonder about the slightly 'cheaper' tyres I'd put on for the time being, but it is only the one that's showing early signs of wear on the outer edge, so I reckon 'prang' could be one cause, or perhaps excessive speed on roundabouts? :-) I'll keep an eye on it; thanks...

Re: Buzzing sound (not a wasp!)

Hi, Yes, that's about the area it's coming from, but, Silicone paste? I'm not too much of a DIY'er, so could you elaborate just a little please? :-)
Many thanks.
