Re: Free at last!
Forgot to add the wiring for the clutch start also broke. I soldered in a new section but that got snapped as well. Windscreen mysteriously cracked, but not in a minor, leave it until you can get it fixed way, but a non repairable, from the edge right across the middle of your field of vision way. T...

Free at last!
Well folks. Our money pit of a Megane Privilege has finally bitten the dust. No longer will I be throwing money away having to keep it on the road. After years of problems we are free. We have replaced the dephaser, water pump and belt, starter and solenoid, three window modules which packed in agai...

Re: Boot wont open
I have this issue on a regular basis. Water gets in the switch unit. Mine eventually fell apart so was stuck with a car that wouldn't lock and as the sensor detects the boot is open it wouldn't start either! It's fiddly, but I had to take the switch out and re build it. It's been fine since, but you...

Re: Automatic Headlights Sensor?
You can turn off the auto lights sensor. If I remember you hold down the button on the end of the light/indicator stalk until you hear a beep. Not sure if it also turns off the auto wipers as well. Check the handbook!

Re: New owner 2006 Megane cc 2006
Hi Geoff. I'd get saving as you will constantly be repairing the car. After 50 years of motoring, buying a 2006 Megane is possibly the worst decision you've ever made!

Engine idle issue 1.6 vvt
Yep. No surprise it's an idling issue on a 1.6 vvt 2005 model. The car doesn't always start first time. When it does the revs sit around 1000 for a short while then drop to almost stall then rise and fall if left. When I set off and get to a certain spot down the road the car feels like it's being s...

Re: No power to window, corrosion inside door plug socket (not the usual)
Chloemae12. It's the window control module or temic unit. You can now buy new replacement ones off eBay for around £25 with a two year guarantee and you will need to find someone with the patience to strip down the door panel to replace it or spend a fortune at your local dealers,(not recommended!).

Re: rear discs
Yes they do. You can buy discs with the bearings and abs ring fitted, but I'd recommend purchasing a bearing puller prior to doing the job to get the old ones off and make sure you tighten to the correct torque. I replaced them on my Clio a few years back. Not too difficult.

Erratic behaviour 1.6 16v
Hi all. My 2005 1.6 16v has been running erratically for a while now. It would struggle to start and would drop in revs before picking up again. Setting off it will get so far before power would drop, then suddenly spring back into life, as if something was starving the engine of either fuel, air or ...

Re: Hesitation/stutter in low gears when cold
Hi Matty I have a 05 1.6 and it struggles to start especially cold. When I press the start button I get a whine and no response at all, then try again and it may fire up second go, but not always! Then as I get down the road it feels as if someone is strangling the car as revs drop and the car becom...

Re: Pano roof runners
Hi Gwoolie. The four rubber bushes wear out and what happens is the leading edge of the sunroof catches on the rear section as it opens. Replacing these will cure this problem. As far as I know there is no cure for the rattle except by undoing and packing the Torx bolts that attach the glass to the ...

camshaft sensor
Our Megane 1.6vvt Has been running with the toxic fume light and service light on for about 18 months now without too many issues and enduring an mot, but now I'd like to replace it as we get starting problems along with a very distinct drop in power as I drive down the road only for it to burst bac...

TDC sensor
Hi guys. I was looking to replace my TDC sensor and purchased one from a well know auction site and to my amazement, when I removed the original from the car the new one has it's connector facing completely the other way!! Have I bought a piece of junk? It doesn't look like I can turn it around as t...
