Re: Car horn
Remove the front bumper - really easy task and replace the horn assembly. You can buy a replacement horn in Wilco or Halfords for £8.
The horn needs to be at least 90 dB for the MOT pass.

Re: what is this button!!
This looks like the 'icy conditions' mode selector for the automatic gear box. Basically, when selected 'on' it reduces the rate that acceleration is applied to avoid the wheels spinning in icy conditions. My wife has a Renault Modus and the is a button with the frost symbol on it in a similar locat...

Re: fault code P0380
Do you get any other messages on the display like "Check Injection'? You might also want to check the environmental non-return valve on the top of the engine (located from the hose out of the oil filler point up to the top of the engine) if this becomes gunked up as blocks it can cause issues. ...

Re: Squeeky front brakes
Yes, the measurement for new and worn up pads and discs are all listed in Haynes. That was where I looked them up originally. Sounds like you're on the right path. From my experience, pad and discs usually go together for the best result on this model - It will be like a brand new car when you have ...

Re: Squeeky front brakes
To measure the disc thickness you will need a micrometer or venire callipers. I cant remember the exact figures for the minimum thickness of the disc, but around 21.5 mm and your disc is considered worn out and should be replaced. Basically the pads wear into the disc surface and cause and under cut...

Re: Squeeky front brakes
Hello again, Anything is possible, but usually wheel bearings cause a rumbling when motoring at speed when they begin to fail. The nature of the wheel bearing means there are no user serviceable parts to maintain - if it shot, its a case of pressing the bearing out of the stub-axle carrier and somet...

Re: Squeeky front brakes
Have you removed the pads from the callipers and applied anti-seize compound (copper grease) to the back of the pads where they touch the piston and the lugs of the pads? Not too much grease mind, but enough to build up a dissimilar metal contact between the components. NO GREASE on the pad and disc...

Re: P0487 Error on 1.9DCI 2004
Had a similar fault code displayed on my 2005 1.9 DCi Scenic around the 98,000 mile mark back in 2012. Ended up giving it to Renault to trouble-shoot. The outcome was to install a new EGR valve. The fault has never come back again since. The new EGR was quite expensive (£500 mark including fault fin...
