No, the wastegate regulates the pressure the Turbo puts out, once the correct pressure is achieved it dumps the excess into the exhaust. A dump valve releases the pressure from the boost pipe work to stop it stalling the compressor wheel when you let off the throttle.

I think Instead of the Turbo wastegate dumping the boost back into the exhaust pipe, a seperate pipe is run from it so the Turbo noise is a lot louder.

GT DCi Remapped

Took my car into Pendle Performance for a remap on Thursday, what a transformation :-) Ended up with 182 bhp and 363 NM of torque with really smooth delivery, where the car would stop pulling above 3k rpm before, it now pulls hard all the way up to the redline. I can't recommend Martins work enough ...

Re: How Does Water Get Into The Doors?

Cheers for the advice guys, i made sure all the drain holes were clear at the weekend and also assembled all the connectors back together with silicone grease so it should keep the water out for a little while, im probably over reacting a bit but after getting to B&Q at the weekend and not being...

How Does Water Get Into The Doors?

Does anybody know where the water actually gets into the doors? After having problems with my windows at the weekend i stripped the door cards of and cleaned both regulators, thankfully they are both working again at the moment but thinking its only a matter of time (or it starting to rain again) be...

Re: How to retrofit cruise control, step by step..

Did this mod using the existing stereo control tonight and although it works, I can only get the + function to work, the -, recall and cancel do not work. Anybody have any clues as to what I have done wrong? I wired the 3 wires with resistors in to the brown wire and the wire with no resistor into t...

Re: Another Window Problem

Cheers for the advice Dave, stripped the door card off this afternoon and it seems pretty dry in there. Inspected the plug and took the rectifier off the motor and no signs of corrosion either. Have assembled it all back together with grease on all the plugs so will see if it happens again next time...

Another Window Problem

Last night i opened the drivers side window and about half way down it stopped on its own, after that the switch didn't work for either the drivers or the passenger side. I left it for about 10 mins and tried it again and the windows worked again, has anybody got any idea what could be causing this?

Re: Stickies for fuel consumption

How acurate is the onboard computer? Since picking up my GT DCi, the computer is saying i have averaged around 44mpg with a mixture of town and motorway driving. When i have calculated it from how many miles i have done and how much fuel i have put in though, its more like 50 mpg.

Cheers for the advice guys, going to pick up the bits this weekend and give it a go over the next few weeks. Going to use the standard radio controls as suggested earlier in the thread.

Have you run the RCA leads and the power cable down the same side of the car? If you have, that can cause interference.

I second Gunmetal grey, look great on my black car. If it has to be silver'or'black though, would go for gloss rather than matt, looks much nicer.

Re: replacing my radio

When you turn off your new radio does it forget all the new settings you have saved in it of example radio stations? If it does, it sounds like you have the permanent live and the ignition live the wrong way round on the new head unit.
