Re: K&N Air filter

Factory airbox is a bit of a pain to remove in that you need to remove the battery, battery plate and ECU but fairly straightforward. On the K&N website they suggest removing the factory fitted ducting which means getting under the front of the car, etc. but I didn't bother. My Apollo filter is ...

Re: K&N Air filter

I can only speak from my experience with the Apollo kit which is a slight increase in mpg but mainly smoother acceleration and a nice sucking noise at higher revs :)

Looking at the price of the Green Cotton one it's similar the the cost of a K&N 57i so my opinion would be go with the K&N

Re: K&N Air filter

Pretty sure there's a 57i kit available, I've just put my K&N Apollo CIS kit off my truck on our 1.6 as it's a universal fit.

Re: how to input stereo code-please advise

Remove the stereo and look at the sticker with the serial numbers, etc. If you look in the ICE section of the forum there's a code calculator, just enter the details from your unit and it will generate your code.

Re: Let the modding begin :P

I'm ashamed to say that i've been detailing the wifes car with candy pink and found that all the centre fascia bits come off real easy, air vents no probs (although no going to paint them now), tweeter grilles a doddle, door handles dead easy and gear gaiter ok after a lot of faffing (my gearknob wo...

Re: Engine will not start when Clutch depressed????

Not sure if this has been covered but is there any way to remove the annoyance of having to be in neutral before starting as it's a pain if you stall the car (which the wife does frequently as shes learning at the moment)? At the moment ours starts with the brake pressed (and no clutch pressed if in...

Re: radio code

Car manual shows how to input it but it's simple, just press #1 repeatedly on the radio for the first number, #2 for the second and so on

Re: Window not working?

Easiest thing to try is move the plug that goes into the regulator around a bit, not very technical but sometimes works. Try removing the speaker and have a feel around for it (the regulator/motor is behind the triangle of gold screws you can see when the speaker grille is removed to give you an app...

Re: 1.6 VVT not starting/starting then stalling

I was advised by the garage that replacing the crank sensor would be a good start, £15 off eBay and easy enough to replace yourself. That's my plan so we'll have to see

Re: How Does Water Get Into The Doors?

The water gets in from the horizontal felt seal along the bottom of the window I think. As the car ages these lose their flex and become stiff, therefore ruining the seal. Problem is too tight a seal and the window won't move so I would guess the only thing to do would be replace them periodically. ...

Re: Frozen electric windows

All I managed to do was disassemble the plug to the regulator, check for water ingress, clean and refit as well as checking the socket near the door hinge which also suffers from water ingress. That got the passenger window working and all that was then needed was a reset (hold down for 5 seconds wh...

Re: FIXED!! Electric Window Regulator -

There is a post somewhere hereabouts detailing a repair with a cheap common relay. The motors don't normally fail - it's the little plastic box on top that does - the regulator. Cheers, I was doubtful it could be the motor as apparently they were both checked by a garage not long before I bought th...

1.6 VVT not starting/starting then stalling

Hi all, I know there are various posts about these issues but this is just the story of what happened to mine and the eventual outcome in case it helps anyone else: Wife is leaning to drive and so we were out having a practice which involved stalling lots, over revving, etc. as you would expect :rol...

Do a search on the forum, there's loads of posts about window faults and possible fixes/solutions as I am having issues with my drivers window not working at all at the moment and have read most of them :)
