Thanks Neildriver. I would go to the lengths of disassembling everything, but as its not guaranteed to fix the issue, i may just go to renault customer services. :oops:

cheers dave lowe and ray for the advice. i think i'm gonna have to hand over to the professionals. looked again today, and there is no clip, and bulb will not budge - especially without much to hold onto. tried in and out, up and down, side to side, clockwise and anticlockwise, swearing cursing, spi...

thanks ray - i'll give it another go tomorrow if i pluck up the courage - but i'm pretty sure thats how i ended up breaking off the connectors. I must be blind as even the renault user manual says 'push spring down' with the most vague diagram i've ever seen.

looks like bumper off it is.
