Steering wheel alignment - solution found
I've been struggling for a while with an off-centre steering wheel, had the wheels laser tracked many times, Renault checked all the suspension and bearings, nothing seemed to be wrong. I was using a local tyre specialist (basically a small independent version of Kwik Fit) to do the tracking, they h...

Re: Steering noises
The 'boom' sound is probably the same as the 'clonk' you describe, not from within the cabin but sounds as though its a bearing somewhere near the wheels - anyway like I said, the dealer checked it and said it was nylon bushings/bearings just with a bit of wear, and was perfectly fine/normal. Can't ...

Re: Steering noises
The low pitched 'boom' is apparently some nylon bearings, and something fairly usual - nothing to worry about. The juddering sound was indeed the strut top mounting... however i've had the noise since i've had the Megane, and handling is not noticeably affected at all, so i'm going to live with it. ...

Re: Steering tracking
After having suspension/steering fully checked over, the garage found minor play in steering rod ends and some play on the o/s strut top mounting... would have cost £450 to get those bits replaced, but the play was only very minor and getting them replaced wouldn't have really changed anything. Anyw...

Steering tracking
I have to hold the steering wheel slightly left all the time to go in a straight line. All tyres are fairly new, with similar amounts of tread on each tyre. I check my pressures at least once a fortnight, no slow punctures, all tyres are same brand/model/size etc. Went to the local tyre specialist, ...

Re: EGR valve
Does anyone know if the dealer would ever check the EGR valve cleanliness as part of normal servicing? I'm on 81k now and not looked myself.

Steering noises
Couple of questions about 'normal' behaviour for my Megane's steering ('03 dCi 120, 17" alloys). Had a read of some of the other posts but nothing seems to exactly describe my issues... Firstly, I notice a sort of low pitched 'boom' just at the point of the wheels pointing straight ahead when t...

Warning flashed on the other day - pretty sure it was the brake one, so well identified. It has been fully serviced by franchised dealer since new, so whether they have changed the fluid as part of normal service practice I don't know. I've topped up the fluid with DOT 4 as recommended by the dealer...

Dash 'stop' light with warning flashes+beeps intermittently
Megane II '03, 1.9 Dci 120 3dr. 60k miles manual. Had my cam belt done a week or so ago; over the last couple of days I've seen the 'stop' light flash - it goes on and off very quickly. Its only happened twice, accompanied by a beep - it happened too quickly for me to tell whether it was the oil pre...

Rear quarter body panel: aluminium or steel?
Can anyone clarify whether the rear quarter body panel directly above the rear wheelarch is aluminium or metal? I had a bit of paint touch-up done in the area and what looks like very slight rusting has started.
Many thanks
Andrew
