Re: megane estate

This might be as happened to mine a few years ago - there are some small bulbs in the heater control unit. You have to take the radio out and get the centre panel off to unscrew the heater controls. Then carefully unclip the two halves (be cafeful not to let the controls fall out). Replace the bulbs...

Re: Heater control illumination

Sorry to dig up an old post, but this is the only thread with any info in it, so I tought it best to keep it here than start a fresh thread... A few weeks ago the left hand side of my heater control panel stopped being illuminated in the dark. I had a service, and the dealer reckoned I could change ...

Re: Sidelight bulb replacement

Or get a friend with small hands who can do it. When I needed to replace mine about 6 weeks ago, it was under 5 mins start to finish. That's doihng it the first way you tried. The dipped beams are a totally different matter though.

You need to twist the stalk to side lights to get side lights. The auto setting is only for dipped beam.

Re: New Laguna

I guess you didn't check it fitted before purchase! You could see if the pram wheels come off easily enough to fit, or try removing the parcel shelf and standing it vertically. That's what we do on my wife's Corsa for either of our larger puchchairs. If you want an estate just to fit the pushchair, ...

They're nice, although the Megane makes it feel like you're driving a dining chair - a very wide dining chair!

Re: Advice about buying a used megane

I'd assumed that Renault packaged up all the changes with the facelift, but they might not have done. I know that when I test drove a 100 70mph was just over 2krpm, but in my 106 it's closer to 2k5, so that might be an indication as to the engine. pex: I believe the 80/86 all have 5 speed gearboxes,...

Re: Advice about buying a used megane

There was a facelift in 2006, when spec levels changed slightly, and engines got an overhaul (1.5dci versions went from 80 and 100 to 86 and 106). I'd suggest trying to get a facelifted one if you can as some issues had been solved. If you do a significant annual mileage (over about 15k) then a dies...

Re: poor headlights

The bulbs may well be incorectly seated. If this is the case there will be a shallow 'V' to the beam pattern. Correctly seated and the beam will be like: '\_' I found it a pain to get them seated correctly, but it's possible and makes a huge difference. Keep trying to do it and they will go in prope...

Re: very poor head lights..... my mountain bike has better

They're in wrong. It's quite a pain to seat them correctly - it took me a few hours of attempts before they finally clicked in correctly - and since I couldn't see what I actually did it's impossible to describe an easy way... If the wheel arch access is uncomfortable then it's probably best to remo...

Re: Is my Megane 86bhp or 106bhp?

How many gears do you have? I might be wrong, but if it's 5 then it's an 86, with the 106 using a a 6-speed gearbox.

Re: Spare Wheel In Sports Tourer

Mine came with a 16" steel spare in the boot with the same 205/55R16 as the rest of the car. Perhaps the 17" tyres are too large for the hole???

Re: Electric window issues???

I've read elsewhere on the forum that the windows need to be reset into working with "one-touch". All it means is that the battery has been disconnected (or the appropriate fuse removed and replaced) at some stage and the windows not reset.
