Re: Couple of Things!

Michelin Energy E3A are a good tyre. Not sure about answers to your other questions although if you have a sun roof, that's probably where the rain got in. If you don't have a sun roof then I can't imagine how the water can drip onto the seat, unless water is getting in through the ariel mount and r...

Re: Looking at a Megane but have a few ownership questions...

You may find that an early Megane has already had the coil packs changed so that might not be an issue. The 1.4 may be a little sluggish but it cruises well on motorways with power coming in at 3,750rpm helping with high speed overtaking. Although water ingress can affect some cars, I've only ever f...

Re: Megane II Dynamique VS. Privilege

Build date on my 1.4 was 22nd Dec 2005 and it was a phase 1. It's possible that different models started on phase 2 at different times due to the cars being built in various countries.

Re: Possible New Owner

Some 1.4 engines exhibit a tappet rattle but I don't think this causes any problems. Good for motorway cruising as the power comes in around 3,750rpm so overtaking isn't a problem. This engine doesn't have variable valve timing so you won't need to worry about dephaser pulley and solenoid failure.

Re: help needed

If you do look at any cars, make sure they have a full service history because frequent oil changes are vital for the longevity of the turbo on the diesels. Check that everything electrical is working, make sure that you get two key cards and that they both work and also check front footwells for da...

Re: stalling when stating

Take it back and ask them to check that the new sensor is functioning. Sometimes even brand new parts can fail.

Re: Alarm keeps going off!

Check that both of the sensors are OK on the rear quarter panels. I managed to knock one of mine off when hurrying to remove the parcel shelf one day. You can disable the alarm by hitting the start button 5 times in quick succession (without pressing the brake or clutch so that it won't start). When...

Re: Help Help Help

Have a look in the Links section for a thread about repair manuals and electrical diagrams. I think they are in French but there are pictures which may give you a clue as to where the fuse boxes are located.

Re: Ignition Coils

If they ain't broke, don't fix them. It might be an idea to carry a spare pair with you just in case they do fail but remember that Renault recommend that you use their expensive grease on the coil to plug connection.

The battery might be on it's last legs so have it tested, also check/clean the connections.

Re: newbie here needing advice

Check for a full Renault service history, make sure that you get both key cards and that they both work. Check that all electric windows work and check for water ingress in door pockets and under floor compartments. I think the 1.5 is probably the most fault free of the range. Find out if it's had a...
