Re: boot tyre

If you have the shallow boot liner to go with the aerosols then a space saver is all you'll be able to fit in there. If you want to fit a full size spare then you need the deeper liner, which Renault will flog you for about £120. I picked up a 16" Nervastella to match the ones already on mine, ...

Re: Changing bulbs

I've tried a couple of ways on mine: When the O/S bulb went I removed the wheel and reached up through the access hole in the arch. I've got big blokey hands but I managed to get the job done in about an hour and a quarter (of which about 20 minutes was re-fitting the bulb retaining clip because I m...

Boot floor anyone?

Guys, I've fitted a full-size spare to my 54 plate CC and have also fitted the shallower Renault boot floor. The boot floor that came out is thus looking for a home. This is the one that fits vehicles carrying either a space-saver or aerosols and has the deeper recess on the O/S. One of these will s...

Re: rear window stoped working

Just had that happen on my '54 plate 1.9 dci: nothing doing on the driver's door or rear switches but works fine on the console switch. Since there's about a foot and a half of snow on the ground here it sounds quite feasible that there's a frozen or wet switch. If it comes back to life after the th...

Re: MOT Time!!

I can't comment on Fiats or Suzukis, but I've had a couple of Audis that have been as bad as any. As far as Renaults go it seems to vary by model, and of course by how much abuse and lack of maintenance they receive. For example my Mk1 2.0 16v Coupe never had any problems in this respect. My RX4 reg...

Re: FULL SIZE SPARE WHEEL

The jack, tools, aerosols etc all sit inside the spare wheel wrapped in an old towel. There's room for some coolant and screen wash too. The only slightly weird thing I encountered was that the fixed threaded section that the plastic spare-wheel restraint screws into was full of water. Since the boo...

Re: MOT Time!!

Drive shaft boots coming adrift is a "standard issue" on pretty much any front wheel drive car. The boots have to be soft enough to flex which means that eventually they soften up to the extent that they slip out of the clip. I agree that jubilee clips do a better job of holding them in pl...

Re: No reversing lights

This might be a daft suggestion, but have you checked that the actuator switch hasn't broken? It used to be an issue on earlier Renault models. It's located at the bottom of the gearstick where it enters the gearbox housing and can either break or have the connection fall off.

Re: Heater not up to the job

No complaints about my heater. I drove into work at 5 this morning with the roof down and was as snug as a bug in a rug. Ok, the flying jacket and hat may have had something to do with it. :-) . No, really, it's fine.

Re: FULL SIZE SPARE WHEEL

When I bought my '54 plate 1.9 DCi earlier this year I too was a little disappointed to discover that there was no spare wheel, just a couple of poncy-looking aerosols. I wasn't too keen on the prospect of suffering a puncture in the middle of the night somewhere between Calais and Marseille with ju...
