After changing the dephaser myself and it lasting 2k miles before failiure I went to my local French independent who told me that after the dephaser is fityted it must be accompanied with a software update. Hope this helps

Have you tried swaooing the coils over to see if the fault moves, therefore identifying the naughty coil?!

I will get a few pictures up later, the ribbon is damed yes, the connections have come loose in the centre unit and pulled out, I cannot see how you would reattach it securely without bridging connections (solder etc). It has been folded around in every direction by the time the Mrs 'informed' me so...

Hello all,
Doing a Dephaser/Cambelt/Auxhillary/Waterpump on a 2004 1.6 16v tomorrow..
I have all genuine renault parts and no gasket for the waterpump.
I have assumed I need to use a bead of sealant is this correct?

You need to spend time sealing the frankly crap doors as you are wasting money fitting new motors/regulators. Door cards off and sealent everywhere and help the window seal with some black sealent also.

First thing I would be doing if you have checked all of the basics is getting it on a diagnostic machine and closely scrutinise the live data. Especially on AFM and O2 sensors.
